**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Can't believe after all this time Nvidia are still trying to fix GTAV.
[Grand Theft Auto V]: The game frequently crashes. NVIDIA is working with the application developer to resolve the issue.
:D

[Red Dead Redemption 2][Vulkan][Maxwell GPUs]: Geometry corruption occurs on some Maxwell GPUs. [2744709]

Still supporting old GPU's for the latest games ;)

I didn't think I had it either until I re-read what Kelt actually said. I was looking in the "Manage 3D Settings" but it's actually the 4th drop down category in the top left. To be honest I have never clicked on any of those up there and theres even a "show GPU activity icon in Notification Area" option. Never even knew that existed!! :o
Nothing like that in my NVCP :(
But there again I am on an old Titan X pascal with 441.08 drivers

I'm on 441.08 and having reinstalled the drivers took a look myself and... its not there.

Spent an age looking for a non-existent 4th drop down but found it eventually its under Title bar (File, Edit, Desktop, Display, Help) under "Display" theres "Identify Displays" and... "G-SYNC indicator". Hit that one.

No wonder no-one knows where it is they keep moving it around!

Also, if you are in the "Manage 3D settings" option, then it is the fourth tab along, under "3D Settings", but this time, the programmer decided to call it "Show Physx Visual Indicator". :p

Does exactly the same thing as the option you mentioned.

NVCP really does need a rewrite and be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

Definitely something not quite right with 441.12 and 441.20 - while it is fairly rare in-game fortunately some stuff causes stutter (not random stutter it is fairly slight and sync'd with the update rate somewhat but definitely there) which is much more noticeable in certain desktop apps which I think is also being exhibited as DPC latency - .20 seems to have reduced how long it happens for by about 75% but still happening.

"Standard" packages are those that do not require the DCH driver components.

"DCH" (Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps) refers to new packages preinstalled by OEMS implementing the Microsoft Universal Driver paradigm.

DCH drivers cannot be installed over a standard system, and Standard drivers cannot be installed over a DCH system.

To confirm the type of system you have, locate Driver Type under the System Information menu in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

The driver is now over 550MB, and the control panel continues to degrade seemingly with every iteration.

It is slow to open, unresponsive (obscenely so if you happen to have a game running), and sometimes entire features won't open/work at all. Yesterday, in fact, the control panel itself wouldn't even open despite multiple attempts and even a forced shutdown via task manager. Legit had to reboot my machine to access my graphics cards settings. Jesus wept.

This is latest WHQL (lul) on latest Windows 10. Just shameful.

I've never had issues like that on a properly functioning system - and I'd probably blame Windows 10 first if the control panel is screwed up I've seen it do some crazy things after an update :|

Everyone will be using DCH soon.. And forgive me but i love a conspiracy theory so have i just watched Microsoft pull some dirty trick? Have they somehow got a little monopoly or benefit from FORCING DCH drivers?

Because the only ISO i could legally download with my key from the MS software recovery was 1903 which forcefully comes preinstalled with DCH. Think about that for a second because this means there is no going back to Standard ever for me and it will error unless you install DCH.

So why? Why is DCH being forced by Microbloat? It also requires or works with the store right? Which like Cortana is more bloat that takes away from gaming performance. I think Microsoft were like ok were forcing DCH now and once that is done we will have nothing but DCH for now on. Its very likely also that Ampere will probably require a certain version of windows also thats what happened to me and really messed up my system. But i still do not understand why, My only thought train points to as i said Microsoft abusing the power they currently have which should be killed off for the good of gaming btw.

I think DCH is being pushed to force devs to all have 1 driver type so things work better across the board.

Is the issue on line or in story mode (or both?) - I find GTA V runs great in story mode, has done for a very long time for me, I don't play GTA online, yet strangely spend my RDR2 time online predominantly.

What does DCH mean?

From what I understand Microsoft are changing from standard drivers to DCH **Declarative Componentized Hardware** drivers which will be the new standard for Microsofts Universal Windows Platform or UWP which enables lower level access etc... I may be wrong though, Happy to be educated on the topic.
