**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Think I'll hold of on testing now then :p

RTX HDR is an absolute game changer but I can just use the mod version for the time being so in no rush as never go into the CP :p
If you don't use the Nvidia overlay, then no crashes. I use RTSS for stats anyway so no bother for me, just wanted to see what the new overlay in the NV thing was like, much better and takes up way less screen space. RTSS is still superior though.

How did you do the install @mrk? Wondering if a ddu may have to be done for these?

DDU is not necessary, it simply replaces GeForce Experience and prompts to update during the install anyway. Installer is on NV site: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/software/nvidia-app/

Also for the new driver update, I just do it all through GFE or now, NVA (NV App)

Same method, just update and all's good. NO need for DDU again.

Installed and so far nice improvements overall. Sadly like all these modern app designs though, so much wasted space. Looks better than radeons control panel now though. But alas, something I hardly ever use outside of initial setup.

Looks like they'll be implementing DLSS swapper/tweaks capabilities too, oh yeah

Still missing a lot of the options from the control panel though, I hope Nvidia don't end up throwing some settings out in favor of a simple aesthetic.

The HUB review states they are removing features that are no long in use, which makes sense. The settings I see currently are all the most important ones I would be changing anyway in NVCP. They just need to add the other sections in now like scaling, Gsync control, enable the display hints like when in Gsync mode the indicator appears etc. But that's all coming anyway when it leaves beta.

Turns out that RTX HDR appears to be better than games that have in-built HDR and trigger the auto HDR in Windows.

Just tested Battlefield V and RTX HDR looks much better than using the in game option and auto HDR. Is there any explanation behind this?

My guess is Nvidia have invested significant time and effort into it. When using RTX HDR it's also advised to turn off AutoHDR, While it's not technically active when RTX HDR is, It could cause issues.

Yup, it's far superior to windows auto hdr and games with fake/broken HDR. Nearly as good as the perfect HDR implementations like found in cp 2077 I find.

Thread here with some video reviews and so on:

Has become a must have feature up there with dlss, dldsr now.

I can't recall BF 5 HDR implementation but if it is a good/true hdr implementation, RTX hdr shouldn't be "better", more likely to be similar perhaps, if not a little worse.

When you use in game option auto HDR doesn't kick in. In game options should give you more details in highlights etc. than any replacement HDR. Problem is that calibrating that is often a horror as Devs messed up. And in such cases I preferred auto HDR often and now Nvidia one. It's just bad implementation, especially in older games. New ones should be much better but they still often do not have HDR implemented at all.
