**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Morning everyone, booked a day off work then went to fire up Path of Exile 2 and it tells me I need to update GPU drivers.

I have a 5080 and currently running 596.49, which recent driver version seems the most stable?

Thanks :)

I think the question here is what driver do you need to be on to load the game? if its not the latest 1 then you can decide which 1 is best to install.

@Neil79 is our trusty beta tester. He will be along soon to answer your question :p

Beta tester here!

I have no issues with the very latest drivers - NVIDIA GeForce 617.14

However if you have problems with these in Path of Exile 2 I'd recommend trying the 610.88. Depends on what driver Path of Exile actually requires :)

596.49 is still the goat with average FPS and 1% lows..

Google says different
No, NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 596.49 is no longer considered the best choice for every system,
google doesn't know everything.. from my own testing and testing from others (596.49) still has the best FPS

but I agree might not be the best for everyone, but both my 4090 and 5060ti systems both like 596.49..

The integrated 'AI' helpers are only there for machines with an NPU. Most people who don't wish to engage with them have already disabled AI assistants/Copilot via third party tools.

GPU crashes are likely nothing to do with the update really. If you were up to date last night, bugger all has really changed after the update. Now, if you were months, or years, behind then sure, bad things might happen. Same as any update.

If games are crashing it's probably down to the long standing bug where older WHQL drivers from Windows Update are installed over your up to date versions and for whatever reason they suck. Or, you were miles behind on drivers and the newer ones have issues on your system. Which is par for the course with Nvidia's vibe coded drivers these days.

I'm not sticking up for MS, with their usual patch disasters, but 26H2 barely changed anything if you were up to date so that article is garbage imo.

Yea I read all 26h2 did was something like change the version string in Windows.

Most of the features shipped by the update where already present.

I've not had any issues myself and I'm on 26h2.
