**THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Phantom Blade Warns Against New NVIDIA Drivers

(Warning for all those planning to play Phantom Blade Zero on an NVIDIA GPU. "We discovered that NVIDIA's latest 621.01 driver exhibits unstable performance)

And this is what they recommended for you to do

(we found that driver version 617.42 currently provides the best compatibility with Phantom Blade Zero. If you've already updated to a version newer than 617.42, you can select the corresponding older version from NVIDIA's recent driver releases and perform a clean reinstall. Alternatively, you can wait for NVIDIA's next driver update, which we believe will be released soon.)

Edit : The developers just made a post on steam and sent it to all users telling them to not use nvidia latest drivers if they want the best performance stability

Update

"We pushed an OTA application profile update last night for Phantom Blade Zero so users can stay on the latest driver. This profile update is pushed to users PCs automatically when they log into Windows, install an NVIDIA display driver update or if the PC has been on for 24 hours."

Fortunately I have not had a single issue on my 4080 machine.

Only the 3050 has exhibited black screens once.

I basically fired up Firefox and it was driver timeouts and the screen went black....

So these issues must be architecture dependent.

Had to roll back from 621.01 today. While playing Forza Horizon 6 I noticed it was running a lot slower than usual with framerates of about 45-50 FPS at 1440p max when normally I'd expect at least 80 FPS.
I saw my GPU usage was around 70%, way below the usual 97-99%. I tried the 621.12 hotfix and DDU'd the driver but neither of those helped.
I rolled back to 617.42 and performance was back to normal.

I have a little box that controls reactive lights on the back of my screen (like Ambilight), hdmi from pc goes into it and then output to TV. The latest drivers gave black flickering in anything except 60hz mode, rolled back to 617.14 (no reason, just picked one) and its fine again.

A lot of people have had issues with the latest, even the hotfix and particular games...

I've gone back to the 617.14 just incase. I had no issues here though

I saw something in the notes about black flickering but relating to Spark and something else. My use case is a bit niche, these aren’t popular boxes to my knowledge.

Is it a HUE strip? I have a HUE strip on the reverse of my monitor, and it is fully controlled by HUE software that tells the bridge what to do with it. No HDMI shenanigans to worry about.

Edit: this doesn't won't work with copyrighted stuff like Netflix though

No it’s called a Lytmi Fantasy something I think. Allows 4K 120hz with VRR through the box, perfect as that’s max for my LGC2.
Didn’t want software or cameras

On the topic of strips on back on monitor, I have a Govee

Works on my 37" ultrawide :)
