The Oblivion 360 Thread

I expected a lot more than that tbh and how could you not after all these cool AI storys and things from the developers about how they where having to turn the AI down because they where just to clever, now it seems that the AI isn't really all that hot, if it wasn't mind blowing to begin with why get peoples hopes up thinking this was going to be the next big step in AI , I know it's hype for the game but it just seems stupid to me.

it was never "too clever" its freedom just allowed it to make huge mistakes. It still does all the things they said it would, its just not the revoloution everyone forsaw. NPC's have daily routines home-work-church chats etc just apparently they dont react to situations. Such as when they bump into the same person 2 seconds after they had a convo and they have it again without a second thought. I mean what did we expect, top minds have been trying to teach machines context forever without success, but some RPG company nails it in a game? pfft!

PC gamer called the AI "great but ruined by a shoddy alogorithm" that being that the NPC's do not react cleverly or even sensibly to a situation, thereby leading to odd seeming events and speech. The AI still sneaks, steals and goes about things of almost its own accord. Thats still a huge leap from 'stands on roughly same spot 24hours a ay waiting for you to come along and click em' in my book

Not from my mouth, but a friend on another forum...

I'm Just in the first part I'm chosen to be a spellsword, heavy army is always the best stuff, plus I should pretty good at spells. my star sign is Thief.

The game looks stunning the best I have ever seen on a 360. kinda of shiny. I'm not outside yet, but it looks great I'm in the sewers. there so much detail. in the walls, hanging things swings backwards and fowards relisticly. touches and fires that seam alive

The trolls make a treffic sound.

weird seeing the NPC's tonge move as the NPS talk at first. then you kinda of get used to it. I can stop watching there mouths, mouth their words.

The shadows look amazing life like, I love the trolls, they make a treffic sound, as the they attack, also your bod can sit down, first time ever, I have seen that in a RPG.

The NPS move quick and smooth as silk.

Anyways I'll post more latter, got to get back. I now about to step out in the world......

The world outside looks stunning. you can see mountains off in the distants. the water look great and there is lots of plants and the pine trees it all looks nice. Insects fly around. The sun made the water Reflect orange as sunset. the world seamed very lush

I was attack outside by bandits outside. As I hit them I noticed that the blood spatters on to the rocks. he taunted me. I also trying to charm a guard ridding a horse. he was very crumpy. Its just strange the charm system at first. but it works, The game loads in as you move around in the world outside. but doesn't affect the game play. you can also talk to NPC's that attack.

ahhhh decisions, i'm going to trade in king kong for another game, either fight night round 3 or condemned.

Now i've seem this i don't know what to do.

Is this a mmorg like wow where you pay monthly?

Really ? How'd you find that out ? ;)
Got a mate of mine in leeds where they're based, and I'm in london. From past experience they seem to ship out games roughly 48hrs before release day with dispatch emails being sent out overnight. Which means i'm mistaken with my first post as I thought the release date was the 23rd march...

My money has been withdrawn out of me bank as of 05:00 this morning as I write this so I guess tonight things will happen.

No. Think of this as a single player mmorpg, and a rather immense one at that.

My Collectors Edition order from Gameplay is being picked now for dispatch today. Will have it in my grubby paws tomorrow :)

These two guys have done a little 6 min video review of Oblivion.. It's actually really good and has pumped me even more.

I recommend taking a look here

Got mine from elsewhere, went for the pc version in the end, both are connected to the hd tv so not worried there and want summat to tax my new gfx card.

Was also a bit worried about load times and noise form my drive during this game. at least with my raid 0 raptors it will be fast loading and a tad quieter

plus it was only 24.99

The loading times on all the vids etc i've watched seem very normal and pretty short. I dont see it as an issue.

but add in the fact that the game will have ambient noise, which will probably be drowned out by the dvd rom spinning in the drive ;)

for me it would be an issue, its not an issue when playing games with pumping sound tracks and noise such as graw, pgr3 and so on.

Im not flaming the 360 lol i love mine, but think this will be better on the pc.

Its a good point. I tend not to notice it too much, but yeh i've yet to play a game as quiet and sedate as Oblivion will be at times. If its an issue, i'll switch to headphones. :)

YAY!! Mine is on its way from GAME, just had the email. The CE version for the 360 £41 bargain!!!!!!!!!!!
