***The OcUK Bikers meet 2006. 12th of August***

Can you carry a pillion on a restricted licence Luke? Not having a dig just curious ?
Im sure there will be lots of peeps who will happily stick anyone who wants to come on pillion .
I went to look at a new RSV yesterday ....Hmmmmm :D :o
I must say though i was really attracted to the Z750 and MV f4 .. The build and workmanship is just amazing . Although it looks like it would turn into a massive furball if ridden in the wet :p

I should still be able to come...just need to swap my weekend shift with someone else .. And get rid of my chicken strips (gets sandpaper out ) .
Btw luke why you giving up biking? Cant afford to run the car and bike?

Persil

I have to say I don't really like carrying a pillion - feels too much responsibility for me :p

However I've done it many times, and will happily give someone a ride (it's got a big seat on it for any fat arses :p). I will be taking it easy with someone else on board though.

Last time I had someone on it the guy was 6'5" and just breathing on the throttle made it wheelie... Somehow he managed to stay on!

In answer to you persil, yes you can take a pillion on a restricted license :)

As for keeping the car and the bike, I was all up for selling the bike a week ago, but i went for a blast on it yesterday and I have thought otherwise now :p The only reason is at the moment I am only bringing in about £700 a month, insurances alone are £2500 a year at the moment. Then there is road tax/services/MOT's/fuel and general upkeep, plus I have got to live! I am on the hunt in 2 weeks time for a new job, I am on holiday from work for a week so I am going to set myself a target to try and get an interview at a few places before I go back, I may be lucky and get my notice haded in while I am on holiday :)

Mr7, thats bad news about the bike :(

Jon Frost- If someone is willing to spare their helmet for 10 mins I will take you. I'm not going to be able to bring a spare as I dont have one.

That sucks :( Any chance of getting sorted before the meet?

I hope so Freefaller :( I've just given KJM a call (I'm waiting on them giving me a call back at the mo) so I'll know pretty soon what they can do for me. They've been fantastic so far and I'm pretty sure that if they can sort me out quick enough then they will ;) I'll keep you all updated when I hear more.

And to top it off ....... it's a stunningly hot day today and I'm dying for a shot on the bike :( S'pose I'd better get the lawn mower out instead then :D

Quick edit:

Just received a call from KJM who are going to try and pick the bike up next Monday (not the monday coming) and get it fixed pronto. I reckon that I'll be without the bike for at least 2 weeks, but with any luck I may be still able to make the meet .... maybe.

Hmmmm

I'd like to be able to come to this it sounds like a good idea,we tried the same thing on these very pages a few years ago and it just didnt happen.
Only 3 of us actually turned up ( and 1 of those was in a car).
Whats the average distance people have to travel to this? I've just looked and its 82 miles, which will take me about an hour.
If I do come I'll be travelling up from Hertfordshire, near the M25 (J25) if anyone else fancys meeting me from the area and riding up with me let me know, I'll have to clear it with the wife as well.

80 miles is about the average distance to be travelling to this meet, but to be fair if its nice then i dont care, I am travelling about 90 miles I think so I could be there in 45 mins, but it should take about 1:30 ish.

 :D You should have left that bit out mate.

And it's time for a name change I think. From Rabid Dog to House Trained Dog ;) :D

Lol,
When you have a wife and a baby you have to consider them too(or life will be hell for weeks!!).
And I'm still not house trained!:D

I may well come, weather permitting of corse, only problem is hate long journeys on M roads, I get bored easily.

Like I said ,if anyone from Essex/Cambs/Beds area is going I'll be happy to meet them and travel up in a group.

It will be worth it in the end, you can always take a better route home if you wish, putting the meet just off a motorway junction meant nobody has an excuse not to find the place. :)

Right then, kida bad news but it can be sorted I think...

The ROTA's at work for the next few weeks are up and I am down for a full day sunday, but I am hoping to swap days off with someone else so I work her friday and she works my sunday for me. All my hopes of attending this meet depend on if she is willing or not, I will try and bribe her with the fact sundays are time and a half but if that doesnt work then I am going to have to sort something else out. I cant miss my own meet can i!

Sorry guys - I'm going to have to pull out, 100% definitely. :( Just found out that my last remaining grandparent has just had a bad fall and is rather ill in hospital. I'm going to be travelling to France over the bank holiday to see her as it's the best time I can make and I really need to be there - unfortunately I can't get there any earlier. I'm sure there will be another meet soon, and I'll definitely be there. :)
