***The OcUK Bikers meet 2006. 12th of August***

Nice one :)

I serviced the bike myself yesterday so its all n ship shape and ready to go, i am really looking forward to it now, i havent managed to swap the shift at work just yet but I am sure there will be no problems swapping shifts.

I've got a rucksack sorted but unless I can change my day off it's looking like I won't be able to make this meet :( I'm going to give KJM superbikes a call tomorrow to find out how things are going with the repairs, so maybe with a little bit of luck I'll still be there :) I just hope that the weather is okay on the day though. Nothing worse than turning up for a bikers meet and we sit all day in some boozer looking at our bikes through a rain soaked window :(
All I need to do is speak to my boss tomorrow to find out if the swap in days off can happen. Fingers crossed eh

I dont think in the first post I included a meet time, so for arguments sake will people be alright with a midday meet at the location? That way our big fat biker bellies will be rumbling and we can have a bite to eat first while we introduce ourselves to one another.

Is everyone alright with that? Any problems just let me know.

Fine by me too, dinner photos to start, action ones later :)

suits me too... need to give the bike the once over as its been in storage since september when i dropped it on a roundabout...

(Not even sure i fixed it actually!)

Heh! These fine weather riders, what are they like! :p

Luckily though I can class myself as a fine weather rider, its so nice to enjoy every ride these days on my bike and not be a bit annoyed at getting wet or cold :)

Who is going to be the first to show off a kneedown I wonder....

Oh, and I still havent sorted out this sunday, i am still down for working all day but i will just use my young laddish charms on my manager and she will be fine with a swap :)

heh, damn right! No need to get wet when when i can take the TSport Celica out is there?!

Nope not at all, I am glad i have seen sense now and got myself some practical transport as well as the bike :p I do feel that in time my skill at riding a bike will slowly go down though, so i try and ride as much as I can still.

Get yourself booked on a track day me ol' mucker and you'll be suprised at what you can do without cars and pedestrians running out in front of you ;)

I am thinking of booking a trackday when I have the money, but first I need leathers, all tracks require all riders have a minimum of a 2 piece leather outfit. I have protective gear for everthing from head to toe but they still wouldnt allow me on the track with them.

As much as I would like to, I have my CBT Monday, DAS Test Friday and pickup new bike on Saturday. Dont think running it in on a few hundred miles round trip plus being literally 2nd day of being a rider would be best advised.
Have fun though guys, I will catch up with you at the next one hopefully :D

Get one piece for track days, most places are now being picky about two piece.

ie they have to zip at least 3/4 of the way round and the zip needs to be stiched onto the leather not a elasticated bit.

mmm trackday....

TBH thats the best way to get to know your new machine mate, take it on a damn good rideout. At the end of the day you will be at ease with it.
Dont forget not to keep to one speed for too long ,thats the best way to fubar a new engine.

Thats the problem, I live in Bath so cruising on the motorway isnt going to do it the world of good for break in period, plus theres the oil change at 200 miles IIRC and I may have some teething troubles which I dont want to risk on a brand new machine miles from home. Shame really, give it another week and I will be happier.

First oil change at 400,then 3500/4000.
The idea is not to keep to one speed/revs for too long, motorway cruising is a good way to run in a new engine IMHO going from 60 - 80 ish will do it the world of good.
Do you have breakdown cover?
The first ride I took on my bike (when it was new) was a 150 mile round trip to the inlaws house, cant honestly see anything going wrong in the first few hundred miles,it took around 1000 for mine to play up;)
And to top it all I dropped it on the very first day of ownership!!!

I can see your point though.Bath is rather a long way from the meeting point.

BTW what bike??

Kawasaki ER6F.
TBH I guess I am being "chicken" LOL. Hardly a macho thing to say but I dont care, would rather be confident in my abilities before I undertake a longer journey in potentially crap weather (if this week is anything to go on).

Absolutly nothing wrong with what you're saying there bobbler ;) You would have too much on your mind anyway with the 'getting to know your bike thing' to really enjoy your day out anyway. Taking it slowly is the best way. Once you're comfy with the bike then you're comfy with yourself and that makes for a good days riding ;)
