Hotels, I though I already did? :D

If you want to be near to town and stay in a nice place which isn't too expensive then The White Rabbit is the way to go, 800yds from bowling 500yds from drinking. Its also 2 minutes from my place, which might be nice for those who don't want to go clubing but might like a nightcap.

The Travel Inn (usual facilities) at Sandling will be cheaper but is 1.8m from the town centre, as is The Village which has a pool and is a bit nicer than the Travel Inn, but I suspect slightly more expensive.

The Grange Moor is less than a mile away in the opposite direction

The 'rents told me that they have a funky keycard system so you can get up to the rooms without having to go in the pub.

Oh, did I mention that the White Rabbit is also a pub? A big pub, a nice pub and a pub in which everyone can meet. It also has ample parking and is the easy to find from the Motorway. Plus for those who are comming by train it is quite literally a five minute walk :). Oh and its a PUB!

Get booking though, they don't have that many rooms!

For those that can't get in there, if there are any, I would say go for the Travel Inn and get a taxi/ bus back to/ from town when needed. Its the best value after The White Rabbit.

Depends very much on whos coming down on the Friday and what they want to do. I am quite happy to be there from say 7pm onwards and have a few drinks and go somewhere for an Indian, Chinese, Pizza whatever people want to do. I'll be working on the Friday so I want to get home and have a sit down before coming out, but I am literally 2 minutes from the pub so if people want to call me when they get there then thats fine too :)

Of course :)

We'll increase the number of reservations at the bowling in line with the number of people who want to come. We haven't limited the numbers and we don't have to book it for a couple of weeks, the more the merrier!

Why should you have the benefit of Feek's wisdom? Sounds like your pretty good already, maybe I should get up to the alley for a few lunchtimes and practice, so I don't embarrasse myself too much with all you professionals?

Bet he was about as popular as an excrement in a public swimming baths with the staff at the alley, still pretty funny though :D

I'm basically rubbish at bowling, I rarely score over 100 and I'm stupidly pleased when I do. So I am prepared to be embaressed. My wife is particularly bad and gets very frustrated about it, I think she will be staying at home in the afternoon, but she will be coming out for beers in the evening :)

I'd like to get 20 firm confirmations before I book the lanes, this does not mean we are restricted to 20, we should be able to cater for up to 32 and if it goes above that we have an option on more lanes, so mention it to people you know who don't visit GD very often (bowling pimpage is acceptable).

People are staying mostly at the White Rabbit ( http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/lodgedetail.asp?lodgeID=34), yes. Its the most convenient for town and the best value. There are other places and offers of accomodation available, just search the thread or ask :)

Hangtime

Foodwise the plan is to do a poll closer to the time (about a month before), I can book most places be it Pizza or Chinese or something else. When I said 'somewhere decent' what I thought was it would be nice to have a sit down meal so we can chat, rather than having to grab something on the run. However we will have an option in the poll for doing our own thing or grazing throughout the day :)

Yes its mainly the Saturday day and evening, people are welcome to come on Friday but it will mostly be those who have a long way to travel and can't realistically make it down Saturday morning. That said, all are welcome. Friday night is scheduled to be a quiet 'er' night. I notice you have added yourself to the list, is the a definiate yes for the day? If it is please move yourself into the green section and adjust the total. I just want to get my numbers right for the bowling booking. :)
