That would have been my preferred option anyway, but the trouble is the server doesn't have ffdmpeg or mplayer to thumbnail them (or do any other manipulation). At the moment I have a pre-compiled binary of ffmpeg that will process the avi, but not the wmv (missing libraries I guess).

I'm looking into statically compiling a binary on one of my boxes. Have never really moved binaries between systems before though, so I'm not sure how far I'll get.

For me, it depends on 3 things.
1) How well I know the person
2) Which of the two names suits them best :p
3) If I can remember their real name :o

So basically, some people get called by their forum names, others by their real names.

First names generally, though for people like Gilly, Huddy and Desmo the forum name is also their nickname so it makes no difference either way. :)

Do you know I have no idea. I can't remember if people were calling me by my forum name or calling me by real name (Michelle).... I think I was getting called by my forum name. My memory is somewhat hazy though ;) I have to say I'm a bit like Haly when it comes to what I call people. it all depends on the person.
 
When I was in Swansea then people got called by either their forum name or their real name, depending on how much i'd had to drink and how well i know them (or if their forum name WAS their name, like (big)Stan)...

People just called me names though :( like Von calling me a cross between blade and a columbian hitman, and feek calling me ****** :o

(the above may or may not be true)
