The OcUK Men of Honour 2009

A few of this year's recipients haven't posted yet. Hopefully that will change soon :)

As a relative newbie on this forum, I havent had the opportunity to cross swords so to speak with many of these guys, but congratulations and I look forward to debate and discussion with you in the future. Especially this Fox character who sounds fun.:D

Fox? Seriously o_0 this has to be a wind up

Why ?

I have banged heads with Fox numerous times but I think he contributes tremendously to these forums.

He is a rarity in that you lock horns one day and it is forgotten the next and he will still offer informed advice.

His motor and beemer threads are always a good read and I think the forums would be more dull without him.

I mentioned Fox then got my head biten off.

People suggested I was peeved that I never got MOH!

Then I got accused of trolling the Motor forum! :p

Sometimes its all to easy to be misunderstood. :)

I feel strongly that this 'Men of Honour' award is divisive and unnecessary. It obviously devalues the contributions that all of the other members make on a daily basis, and the criteria used to select the recipients is a mystery to me, and I am sure, most other people.

We've obviously got a rather different viewpoint on this as I don't see it that way at all. Receiving the MoH tag doesn't mean that the MoH's view is any more important than any other poster, it's simply a nice way of recognising that the recipient has made a significant contribution over the past year(s). It isn't intended to devalue the contributions of any other members but by its nature any award has to be limited in scope if you don't want to devalue the idea behind it or to put it another way what has anyone who didn't receive a MoH tag this year (or any other) lost in comparison to the situation they were in on the 31st of December before the awards were made? i.e. they were a member then, they're still a member now but now there are a few other people who've received a measure of recognition for their contribution.
