The Offical Lian Li PC-A05 Owners Discussion/Modding Thread!

If you look around you can get hold of an HX450 which is the lowest model they offer with modular cabling. It could save you a smidgen over £10 compared to an HX520 but I guess it's debatable as to whether that is enough to compensate for the weaker 12v rail (7A less output).

Ive just bought a HX520, still waiting for it to arrive but ive heard nothing but great things about them.

sell the p180, the lian li is sooooo nice.theres allways poeple wanting to buy antecs for some unbeknown reaosn

Question:

Is it correct that airflow is reversed with the front fan exhausting hot air along with the power supply and the back fan as an intake of cool air ?

Also how well does this work, and does airflow have to be reversed in this case ?

yep, the stock airflow is back to front, it works fairly well apart from a pocket of hot air at the top of the case. you can re-reverse it (ie front to back) which i think would be alright if you cut a hole in the bottom of the case for the PSU to draw air from the outside (rather than taking away the cool air provided by the case fan)

me neither, my first case was an antec (sonata II when they were brand spanking new) which was very nice, but the plastic front was cheap and nasty and it was pretty toasty, would have been alright at £40, pity it was nearer the £100 mark >.<

just got my A05B today and it is lovely, couple of things though, the side panels don't seem to be 100% secure (a touch of flex in the middle, to be expected though really) and i'm worried a bit about any rattle they will produce.
i was surprised to see that it doesn't have rubber feet but plastic ones, which is a bit annoying of a £70 case.

apart from that though it's certainly the nicest case i've owned, just looking forward to getting some hardware in there :D.

Wouldn't this just be bang on the money for the a05 ?

Well, my psu come this morning and ive started filling the case. a couple of weeks wihout a pc is making me very excited about this, Ive got the mobo and drives in, spending a few hours on cable braiding and then making my leads for the corsair hx520 psu so they are neat and tidy and just the correct size. Will get some pics up later for ya to gander at!

****EDIT****

Fan controllers arnt my thing but if you like that type it certainly wouldnt be ugly i suppose

Well i was mainly thinking of sticking two 120mm 2000rpm Sharkoon silent eagles in there from my antec 300. Would be a bit loud at full blast.

Any ideas if Ocuk will be getting more A05s in stock ?

Looks like the newer models have some nice upgrades:

-vented PCI slots
-holes in the motherboard tray
-rubber pads where the sides meet the main chassis

Could really do with the rubber pads. Mine resonates every now and then, and no amount of blu-tac blobs seem to cure it.
