So, after charging to 100% before setting up I did the following.

Installed all my usual stuff (BTT, Office, Fusion 360, Blender, Meshroom, Photoshop, Chrome, Steam, World of Warcraft etc etc.)
Played around with Fusion 360 to test performance
Fired up WoW and wandered around a bit
Sat for 3 hours browsing the web
Shut the lid

Took it to work this morning and I've been installing more stuff continuously since about 08:30 this morning.

Battery percentage remaining? 77%

Utterly epic.

Damn I want one of these, I don't think id miss the thousands of cables and noise of my desktop under my desk. I am torn on waiting a few months for the potential refresh of the 16" or release of a 14?

Bonus got an email mines ( well sons) 8/8/16/512 arrives 17th Dec was worried it would be after xmas as it was between 17-29th.

He'll be so happy xmas day !:):):)

Charging is impressively quick - I let the battery run down to 20% (nearly two full days use) and slapped it on charge at 12:30. Not even two hours later, my MBA is fully charged.

Delivery of my MacBook air tomorrow, my first Apple computer.

This MacBook Air is my first Apple computer and I am impressed with it. I will always have a PC for gaming but I shall be Apple laptopping from now on.

I last charged the battery on the 8th and now it's at 50%. I am a light user but this is doing things I would normally boot up my PC to do, and no I don't mean porn, that's what the iPad is for. Easier to clean.

Definitely going to wait I think, I have no real need for one now or in the future :D, I have a work laptop and do all my work on a virtualized workstation so this machine is just for browsing and twitch!

I'm going to need one in Feb, but might buy a used 2015 model off eBay for a few hundred to keep me going until the M1x MacBook which is rumoured to be incredible. Apparently being launched mid 2021

Yes, works fine on my MBA using a USB-C dongle with HDMI

Did yours just detect the right resolution right away? Mine isn't giving me that resolution at all and I can't seem to force the resolution either. I got one of those iiyama's 34" screens and it seems to no recognise the right monitor at all.

Yep, no issues at all. Using a LG 34UM88C with a fairly generic USB C dongle that does HDMI, ethernet, SD card, etc.

MacBook arrived, barely used it but so far I am very impressed.

No doubt I will be in the Apple forum sections picking peoples brains as I am a complete Mac beginner.

Thinking about getting the MBP 13" M1 for macOS and iOS development using Xcode. Does anyone else do programming/development work on one, and how would you rate the experience?

So I decided to do a battery test overnight. I fully charged the Air and using the brightness setting I use mainly, unless it’s an exceptionally bright day where I might go one bar higher, I started a 4K video running in full screen. The video was a fireplace that lasts for 10 hours which I started at 2130. When I got up 9 hours later, the battery was down to 45%

Far from a scientific test but I am impressed with that.
