*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

You guys for real? My M1 MacBook Pro flies.........I mean, I literally do photos and video for a living so use it all day every day & meetings etc

I am using an M1 Max with 64gb Ram, but still, nothing is struggling here.

Or is this the old 'I want to justify my purchase ;)'

You've got an M1 Max with 64gb. I've got an M1 pro with 32gb. I do development work with a lot of containers, IDEs, other software and obviously google chrome which would happily eat all my memory on its own.

Do I need it? No. I could work on a lower spec machine. I wouldn't be as productive and I work for myself and I want it.

I think I out get the £599 one instead of the £999 one. Put the £400 aside for 5 years and then get another £599 one, or whatever base model then.

Rather than stretch the £999 one for 12 years like I have with my iMac (which I maxed out the spec back then at over £2k lol

My exact plan. I’m going to sell my laptop to fund it.

16gb Ram in the cheapest Mac on the market. Never thought I would see the day

I'm very tempted but already have a mini pc. Like many, the original Mac mini here was my 1st real foray into Apple computers, due to the low cost of entry. I reckon I paid more or less 599 for the original core2duo one I had over 15 years ago!

I'm going to be finally upgrading my Intel iMac after holding off to see if a larger screen version of the iMac would be reintroduced and losing hope.
I think I'll be going with the M4/16/512GB spec. I've got NAS for the bulk of my file storage so shouldn't have to go any larger on the storage, I've got a nice pile of Apple Gift Cards I've amassed over the last few years for this upgrade as well so that could change.

I'll be investing in a 27" Studio Display too. Quick question though I've found the Studio Display slightly cheaper else where rather than buying it direct from Apple, will I still be able to buy AppleCare+ for the Studio Display separately?
