*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

Wonder if an M4 Mini will be a decent upgrade over an M1 Studio. There was a reason I bought the Studio over a Mini at the time but I can’t remember what it was. Monitor support maybe

I can't deny that I'd quite like to replace the old iMac I run in the office with a spanky new Mini. Not that there's anything whatsoever wrong with the iMac except that it's old. All I use it for is to RDP into my work laptop and if I were to replace it, I'd have to buy another Studio display because I'm so used to the iMac 5k monitor.

Oh ffs, why do this now - where's the wallet.
Agreed! I had no intention of buying a new computer of any sort, but I've missed owning a Mac since I finally gave up on my 2011 MBP about 3 years ago, and the price, performance and form factor of the £600 model seems ridiculous. I've been trying to abstain, but don't think that'll last long.

Edit: Anyone know whether it does power over USB-C? From a quick skim of the web page it's not clear

Ooooo these new ones look nice. Been looking to step back from gaming (giving up the gaming PC) and go for some kind of Mac/Apple-only setup. Even in base spec the new Mini is extremely tempting to make the jump now. It will have a knock-on effect of wanting a new desk and a second 4K monitor though so it's going to get expensive :D

Must....resist......

Edit - hope to see some comparisons to the M1 and M2 versions as well as comparisons to the MBA, MBA, iMac, etc.

Edit 2 - The power button placement is really annoying, under the unit.

Edit 3 - Shame the front ports are USB 3.1 / 3.2 Gen 2, should be USB 4.

Just looked at the specs on this, thats a lot of power for the money!

I mostly use my MBP M1 on a big monitor in my office, I could probably sell that, buy this and have some change left over

Tempting at 599 now they have upped the RAM. However charging an extra 33% to upgrade to 512gb is scandalous even by apple standards. A bit rubbish to have the smaller design then have to hang an ssd off the back.
