*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

What would be a good webcam to go with the mac mini?
Forgive my ignorance, but I only learned about monitor fuzziness from this thread no idea if any webcam will do, or if some have issues.

So artisticly shot. I'm trying to not sound hateful and jealous, but I'm **** with a camera and I'd like to think in my head that you took twenty minutes to prepare for this shot lol

I was going to join the club and post a photo of my keyboard, but it needs cleaning. badly.

Not 20, but not 2mins either lol.

The desk is normally full of stuff, cameras, cables, steam deck, more cameras, retro handhelds, a mug, trinkets etc. I had to clear them off at least!

Speaking of desks, I've just ordered 2 of these - https://tinyurl.com/3wb2zcku should be here in the new year. Gone for a nice, Chonky 40mm thickness. Maybe I'll develop the testicular fortitude to take a photograph for critique purposes when I have my study repainted.

Assuming you have an iPhone - continuity and a good iPhone mount.
Thanks for the input, if it were for me, then I'd try that for sure, but I want to keep as simple as possible for my wife... she's already baulking at the prospect of a new computer (old one is a 2015 macbook pro)

I am also looking for a webcam too, the bar isn't high for me as it is going to be used for Facetime with family only. Actually I don't think 60fps would be needed, I think I prefer 24fps, like a movie! 1080p is fine. What is important is low light performance but due to the small sensors in them, that is a tough ask.

I mean I could always mount my Fuji x100vi on a small tripod on the desk...42mp doing 4k/60 with a F/2 aperture and blow everyone away by my amazing picture quality! Or my Sony A7III camera with a 1.4 prime lens lol (although this will take more fiddling to do)

No. This uses displaylink software for the extra screens. It's complicated, but ultimately rubbish

The Mac mini already supports 3 screens anyway. Use one over hdmi and 2 over USBC/thunderbolt, unless I'm missing something?

Okay, so use the HDMI and two Thunderbolt slots for the other screens, but use a thunder bolt/ Display port converter?
Dongle?
Then use the third for hub for external SSD etc?

Sorry jsut trying to get my head around best setup so no faffing about.

If you are using the internal / built in HDMI and the 2 Thunderbolt ports in the back for 3 displays then you are out of ports in the back for other USB peripherals. You will either need a display with built in USB to daisy chain, use a dongle on one of the rear ports or use the front 2 only.

Personally, I'm a big fan of Ugreen stuff so I would say get some variation of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Converter-Compatible/dp/B0C4DC6P4H
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-USB-Type-HDMI-Adapter/dp/B07X25ZR56
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Adapter-microSD-MacBook-Surface-Grey/dp/B0BLNDNBG1

They have too many of the "hubs" to list, but the above one would do one of your monitors and give some more ports.

If you want to use the ssd at full speed you would need to use one of the front ports, if you wanted to use it at 10/20GBPs you could get a different hub and still have that run out of the back.

Isnt there 3 Thunderbolts on the back though?
