*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

np, ignore what I said about using the front ports, as you mentioned above there is 3 on the back and 2 on the front!

Actually last thing..is there any option for a external enclosure for 2x 2.5 SSD drives, they are just used for local file storage movies etc.

Sorry again, last thing as i'm ordering it all today.

There are, cheap ones are basically 1 cable for each SSD...so no different getting them separate. I think I linked a Sabrent one earlier that has 2 x SSD in one, but it requires it's own power supply.

Or this...

Ahh yes I ordered that in my list of thing already that you linked before, Im talking about the standard SSD Disk sized ones, not NVme.

Bugger was hoping to avoid that lol. Just wanted a single small enclosure that would hold a couple.

Something like this then I guess?

Found this.

SABRENT 4 bay hard drive docking station, SSD HDD 2.5 inch SATA case dock

Only 5gb/s though, but SATA III is only 550mb/s so it's fine?

They also do a 2 bay one, but the 4 bay one has a lid.

Not really used any, apart from the dual docking station style ones that leave the disks exposed.

2 of the below would be cheaper and have a smaller footprint:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Enclosure-External-TOSHIBA-Internal/dp/B06XWRRMYX

Edit: There's gonna be a lot of things connected to your mac mini!

HDMI - Monitor
Thunderbolt 1 - WD HDD RAID - daisy chain to another WD HDD
Thunderbolt 2 - OWC 2TB SSD
Thunderbolt 3 - Dock of some kind....which will have my Mechanical keyboard, webcam, Microphone and USB powered LED backlight...may be USB speakers.

Well All ordered...let the **** show begin swapping from Windows lol.

Just so you guys know this is all your fault if even one things doesn't work lol. But Windows has gotten so annoying and have used Mac in the past.

I just checked and it cost £8.99. 4 USB A, 1 USB C, SD and microSD plus a headphone jack.

It’s actually very good even if it wasn’t just a stopgap.

This is what I got.

2 x USB-C (1 power pass through)
2 x USB-A
SD Card
Micro SD Card (which I put in a 200g micro SD card in there as emergency storage)
HDMI out
