*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

Whats with nearly all of them adding HDMI..is it just because USB C Can do it?

Yes, USB-C have the bandwidth to carry it so it adds HDMI. Imagine having it attached to your Macbook, which they removed the HDMI out. So to connect to some monitors, you need it.

Just got a 4tb WD SN850X 4tb for £220 and I will probably stick it in one of the OWC enclosures. They aren't cheap but they do seem good and manage heat well. Just waiting until I can pick up one of the enclosures for under £100.

Does somewhat put into perspective the apple robbery on storage. I have a mac mini pro with 1tb HD coming in the next week or so. To upgrade for 1tb to 4tb is £1000. I am getting an extra terabyte in a super fast SSD inc. inclosure for 1/3rd of the price. I know the internal storage would be faster but if I could stick the SSD in a TB5 enclosure there wouldn't be a lot in it.

KRSC have it on sale for £539! Mine arrived this morning. They are Apple franchised.
Mine too, very happy although I am getting an appreciation of how my parents must feel using tech as I couldn't work out earlier how to get something out of full screen mode :D.

I have it connected to my monitor with HDMI but looking at monitor specs it can only do 144hz via HDMI, I am wondering if there is a solution to get 240hz out of it? The monitor is an alienware AW2723DF.

Edit: I see you can run a USBC > DP to the monitor so I'll try that

Turns out I am using the Mini's power button pretty much every day. It shares the keyboard (Apple A1243) and mouse (Deathadder V2) with this UGREEN USB 3.0 switch.

In regular use, I put the Mini to sleep (Opt+Cmd+Eject) and wake it up again by touching any key. However, if, when it's sleeping, I use the PC, then put the PC back to sleep and switch the KB and mouse back to the Mac, it won't wake up with a keyboard press! I have to tap the power button the wake it up.

They are interchangable....I am sure there are differences but I treat them the same.

It was a great film.

Could this be a bit of a grey area regarding Amazon? If someone was linking a lawn mower then that's one thing but might mentioning them with regards to products in the same retail space as OcUK be an issue?

OcUK sell one thunderbolt card, which is PCI-Ex4 - so don't think what is being discussed here is going to get you banned. Considering Feek reads this thread and responds, can't see him doing anything more than editing a post and removing the link if he thinks it's a competitor.

On another note, booking my Mini in for a checkup on the wifi.

I think we just need to be smart about it.

We can say Amazon, just not link it directly or associate directly between the 2....I don't even say rainforest. If there is a link, I would link to manufacturer's site. If I am pasting a product name, I cut and paste the name from Amazon, the whole description. If you copy and paste that into google, amazon one normally comes up top anyway.

For example, I bought my WD Blue SSD SN580 last night, it cost me £85. It won't take 2 seconds to work out where I got it from.
