*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

This..the Dac also ads a few sound out options and then for some decent headphones as well.
The Edifier have been more than enough as well.

Desk space is limited to the side of the monitor. Most of these Edifier speakers looks a bit too big.

Ahh right, fair, yes they are all typical "bookshelf" size. Saying that I have mine turned on their sides.

I have some B&W M-1 speaker's I am not using which I could use but to do that I will need an amp, that I do have but it's my musical fidelity amp. Very overkill and also doesn't serve the purpose. If I were to use a desktop speakers amp it really should take the DAC side out of the computer too and add a headphone out as well. The musical fidelity does neither.

I want to declutter the desk too, that way feels like I am half way into a stack of computer, hub, amp, etc.

I just got some stuff come through today, ordered last week!
Ordered 4 times. Fake tracking and 4 fake delivered pics. Got in touch with Royal Mail and they confirmed it was faked tracking and Ali after MUCH proofing to them finally gave me a refund.

Would never touch them.

Some sellers let you pay AFTER delivery, and only when it is confirmed received too as they all come with tracking.

If it's 10Gb...

SSD enclosure, that is worth...£20?
Then spending £80 to get 3 USB-A ports and 1 SD card slot?

No, just no.

I've got a couple of £ 6.11 UGREEN USB-C Male to USB-A Female adapters plugged into mine, converts the front USB-C ports to USB-A and I have my PCs USB-A Keyboard and Mouse plugged in, only takes a few seconds to switch between the Mac and PC. They both share the same monitor which has two HDMI 2.1 inputs.

I have a Caldigit dock and if I need to convert any I just bought these. USB-C to USB-A and back the other way too.

Someone tell me I am making a mistake....

So I have limited desk space, but I could get away getting something like this and mount it vertically to the side of my Huawei 28" Mateview.

Looking at the spec....it seems perfect? The DPI is practically spot on, OLED, it has VESA mount at the back, it can be powered by 1 cable even.

Nope.

I use two just like that either side of my studio display (soon to be the new lg 6k monitor)

Love it. Well I got the 4k version before it.

Setting it all up today:-

1 - The Thunderbolt adapter works! But only to a Thunderbolt 4 socket in the M4 or the Caldigit. In 1 way, yay!!! but also, 40gbps bandwidth for some 5400rpm HDD feels a bit of a waste. When plugged into a 10gbps USB-C port it doesn't get detected.

2 - Using a 4k screen in full 4k res....you need a microscope to read the text ! So small!

3 - The speakers inside the Mac Mini is decent enough not to need external speakers for basic Youtube use.

4 - The Apple SuperDrive (DVD) does not work with the M4....or i can't find a way to power it, not even through the front 20w port on the front of the CalDigit TS4.

Agree on points 2 and 3, I don’t use full 4K res but 3008x1692 in HiDPI Retina mode. I also use the minis built in speakers for YouTube, EDM sounds ok on it.
