*** The official 2023 and 2024 Mac mini thread (it has the M2 chip, the M4 chip and everything!) ***

If the pricing structure is right I think I’m going to get one of the M4.

I don’t know why, but I just want one. I want to know how well the GeForce now runs on it and may get rid of the PC completely.

They drop an m4 mini I’ll buy one and sell my gaming pc as that no longer happens
I’ll sell the MBA and grab an iPad then I have the best portability and a very decent desk top which I could even rdp into from the iPad.

If the base is 16GB I’ll be over the moon! I’ll even upgrade to the 10gb Ethernet model for the laugh

I’m the same but i’m planning on getting the geforce now incase I want to play some random games. Won’t keep it long term though.

Very interested in the new Mac mini. Gaming just doesn’t happen for me anymore and I’m more into wanting something I can use for photography and music.

I want out of the windows eco system, and as much as I’ve tried Linux, I still feel there is money’s worth out to be had from the likes of my purchases of affinity and resolve … add to that GarageBand on mac, and I think I would be set.

I have a feeling though it’s going to feel too small as a unit … sounds daft to say, but I wouldn’t have thought that it needed to be smaller.

(I had the thought that the the new smaller size would be for the M4 chip, and that the existing mini size would remain for the M4 Pro, but could have an SD slot in the front … and be called a Studio Mini )

Yeah I'm still using the M1 mini 16gb and it's honestly been the best machine I've ever owned. I'm not sold on the smaller footprint and loss of USB-A slots. If I have to use one of the USB C ports to plug in an adpater to take my USB-A gear I'm not really gaining much. I'm also at the point if this is basically a Ipad pro in an apple tv box why can't they just stick mac OS on an ipad and let me plug it into a dock and be my home and away desktop.

I'm tempted to upgrade even though this M1 has never been stressed or slow since I got it. I'm might just get a good hub and save my money for a couple more years.

iMac base model with m4 and 16GB ram with a decent screen. I have a feeling I’m trying to push down that says this mini is going to be a banging little machine.
Just hope they don’t cheap out on the Ethernet.

How have you found the storage amount in your mini to date ? So you use an external drive?
I have an external 2tb ssd in one usb c slot that houses all my photos and pretty much everything else is stored in the cloud. Another 2tb drive in one of the usb a slots for Time Machine. Which leaves me one spares usb a slot.

wish my parents had learnt to use mac's as well as windows as one of these would be an amazing upgrade for them. But I think they are getting too old to change now (still on a 2500k w10 machine I made them years ago)

If they are used to using iPhone/iPad they would probably be fine. In many ways MacOS is easier to use than Windows.

If the pricing is compelling I might have to replace my M1 Pro 14" MBP with a tricked out mini.

If I can get the M4 pro, 2tb, 64gb for under £2500 I would be sorely tempted.
