***The Official 6320/6420 Overclocking Thread***

Having a bit of trouble with my voltage settings guys....Basically in the BIOS i have set it to 1.53 and CPU-Z is showing it as 1.37......now i understand theres voltage droop ? but the voltage has stayed the same (1.36 or 1.37) everytime ive increased the voltage from the original 1.3 in BIOS to 1.53 in BIOS so its like its saying in windows that it is not changing....Do i need to just keep going higher in BIOS or is that not safe ?

Am i actually giving it 1.53 or 1.37 volts ? and am i safe to continue increasing to gain stability. ?

EDIT: its now 1.59 in BIOS and STILL !!! 1.36/1.37 in CPU-Z this cannot be right, somethign is wrong surely...I have a Gigabyte DS3-P With F5 BIOS

chill, ignore cpuz vcore report, its wrong, havnt seen a screeny with it correct in ages , including my ow, 1.7 V shows at 1.39 in mine (not my normal running voltage obviously ;) )

Change your sig dude
3.8ghz without a screenshot?

Your claiming a clock without evidence ;)

Hey guys. I would like to add my overclock to the thread. Running a e6320 at 3.1ghz on stock voltages (not amazing i know compared with some of you) but its my first real delve into the overclocking world with my new system.

Runs over 10 hours orthos stable, doesnt go above 43 degrees (about 26-28 idle), i'm loving these temps. Going to get a sycthe kama drive intake fan because i found if i took some of the cpas of my drive bays it was at 39/40 degrees in orthos! Not to mention if i had a fan in there aswell as another fan on my heatsink! I reckon the motherboard and cpu have a lot left in them but unfortunately my ram won't go 2 seconds in orthos at over 900mhz without a bsod :(. Need some pc8500 running at 2.0 multiplier to get the best out of this chip it seems. Anyway i'm happy with 3.1 for now, its primarily for gaming so i don't reckon i'll see any big performance advantages going much further.

Heres The orthos screenshot:

And heres the 3D mark score:

1147-3dmark.jpg

That 3Dmark ok? looked on orb and it seems to be beating even some quad cores with the same card! Havent had any problems/hangs/freezes whatsover so far so would you guys say it pretty much stable?

DOOd! i'm about to e-slap you, stop it! Nobody really cares. Let it go. :p

Have you tested stability with the big boys?

I care so why post in my thread?

If not,

I suggest you put your money were your mouth is my friend.

I started this thread.

If you don't want to post your stabilty clocks then I ask why?

why?

wheres your screen shot?

wheres your clock?

Thanks

Correction it's you're, get it right.

And no, I'm not I can't be bothered with most of the arguments, not that that it's relevant to anything I said anyway.

On holiday for two weeks in Spain. :)

As anticipated.

Nonsense response

Official would signify that the thread belongs to everyone, first and foremost an information source for other users of OCUK.

Just because you start a thread does not mean you own it, especially one this generic, if you want no one to comment in here other people will make their own threads and end up getting slated for not using this one, then they will be merged anyhow.

I really hope you have an excuse for this outburst of behaviour, maybe alcohol fueled? If not it begs the question, do you really care about helping or just waving your willy around?

@easyrider - Which Orthos test? One of my systems will pass Gromacs, but not Large FFT's so is it stable or not? I would say not, but most folks would say yes. It's doing 5,000 points per week on Folding@Home maxed out 24/7 so common sense says it's stable.

Orthos is a tool for testing stability, but it's beta software and 20-30% of the crashes while running blend are not down to system instability but Orthos itself. That's data from the personal blog of the author.

It's perfectly valid to publish a suicide shot. People have been doing it for years.

There is no such thing as a stable computer if it's running Vista at the moment.

Where's the fun gone? This is about helping other people get a better overclock isn't it?
