****The Official 7900 overclocking thread****

Just finished a run of 06

Main Test Results: 7900 GT 550/1626

3DMark Score 4972 3DMarks

SM 2.0 Score 1749 Marks

SM 3.0 Score 2190 Marks

CPU Score 2105 Marks :)

Ah my bad :P
Well my X1800XT with an opty 144 @ 2.7ghz gives 9.4k at stock for 2005. Keep clocking and lets see what clock speed is needed to achieve a similar score.

I want to see the core clocks on these. Memory clocks are largely insignificant if the cores won't clock higher as it is only bandwidth after all. My X2 4400+ @ 2.8ghz scored 9823 stock with my X1800XT 512MB for reference.

Pretty nice scores there easyrider. 700 marks more than my 7800GT. :)

An X1800 at stock beats the *clocked* 7900GT in 3DMark05? Nice score Goksly and smids. :)

3dMArk05 is very ATI biased through because of the geomtry requirements.

Sorry buddy, no default '06 score here - my monitor has a default res of 1024x768 and 3DM06 won't let me select higher (damn thing!). I have done an '06 at this res, so you could do the same for a comparison. I got 6026 @ 1024x768. Hope that helps - yes, no-one say to me I need a new TFT - I know :p.

Hey guys its a 7900 overclocking thread, not an X1800XT vs 7900 thread. Now we have to wade through all this trash to find the clocks.

I have just installed the new beta drivers 84.20 to see if it made any difference.

Main Test Results

7900GT 550/1632

3DMark Score 9822 3DMarks

CPU Score 7461 CPUMarks

Seems it did :D

thought there was something wrong with my initial score

wow there is one point in it!

Main Test Results
3DMark Score 9822 3DMarks

lol - close :D
Nice results - could you publish a link for that one?

@Tim.... its nice to see what an overclocked GT is like compared to its rival. No harm tbh. As long as it stays at this level and not turn into IQ/heat/etc etc issues.... pure what gets what at what score.... tis all good imo.

I know its good to compare cards, but why not make a new thread? perhaps titled 7900GT vs X1800XT:p I'm interested in 7900 overclocks, I don't give a flying **** about X1800XT scores or I would have bought an X1800XT.

:p

I'd give a thread with a 'vs' and a card from ati and nvidia about 3 to 5 hrs before it gets deleted ;)
if you dont care.... skim read :p

What RAM chips are used on these cards guys? I think you should post these too. For those not in the know, all you need to post is BCxx where xx is a number. It would be interesting to see what RAM chips get put on which cards. It will be the last numbers on the RAM chip, at the end of the code.

And @ Tim, I made a valid point in my post - core clocks are far more significant than memory, so people should focus on the core first and foremost. I happened to mention my card's score for reference information. I don't post trash, and each one of my posts contains useful information/questions.

Not much choice now:p

1.4Ns Samsung on my XFX smids, and I didn't mean your posts are trash, but the ones not related to the thread title ie. posts nothing to do with 7900 clocks are quite irrelevant.
