** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

Got myself a BFG OC 8800GT :)

Can anybody please give me some advice on overclocking it?

Where and how should I start? I haven't got a clue where to start.

Thanks.

try downloading rivatuner, atitool or even coolbits registry hack to allow overclocking within nvidia control panel and just increase a littlle at a time, should be easy to get 700/2000 any thing above that id do in say 5mhz steps

I dunno if it would be easy to get 700 quite a lot of GT's struggle to get 700.

Ok, I Finally got around to clocking my GT.

I used N-tune and Nvidia monitor for temps.

Core - 670MHz
Mem 1000 MHz

Ambient Temp = 23 Deg
Idel Temp = 55 Deg
Max temp in 3dMark06 = 79Deg

Score: Vista 64

I don't know much about nTune so I up the core Freq, run the ntune stability test for 30 minutes, then up again. not really pushed this, don't want to fry it. Then I did the same but with the Memory Freq.

Is there a more exact way of clocking these ?

I downloaded Rivatune [the latest beta] but I got a load of sig authority stuff and it didn't like it, any advice ?

I have my OCUK 24" TFT on its way ;) and want to be clocked and prepared to run Crysis and COD4 at similar detail to now with my 19" screen,[ in rez 1280 x 1024]

EDIT: Just ran Crysis Bench and the Temps went up to 88 Deg...too high ??

I just got this X1900XTX and was wondering anyone think it'll be good if I compare both of em and put an X1900XTX Vs 8800GT thread "Last gen's high end Vs this gen's mid end or so they say"?

I just think it'll be intrested to see the big performance gap, I'll try at 1280x1023 and 1680x1050, 0xAA,4xAA,8xAA.

Good ideas or maybe get flamed?

I've got BFG 8800GT OC 512 and I can run it without any problems @ 700core/1751shaders/1950memory... It can vary card to card though - but I think this overclock should be realistic for him.

Hi all,

I've just ordered a 8800GT here in the netherlands as they were in stock, price seemed good to me: 154 pounds inclusive VAT and shipping.

But I haven't payed yet. It is a Jetway 8800 GT 512MB, does anyone have experience with this card or know about it? Is it ok, cause the name Jetway doesn't say much to me.

Bought the eVGA 8800GT, advertised as 600/900 and the version that I received turned out to be the superclocked version (650/950) which was a nice surprise :)

I'm a little dissapointed at how my 8800GT clocks, I can't put the core clock far past 640mhz before it'll start artifacting in ATI Tool. Memory seems to run fine at high speeds, its just the core clock thats holding me back.

Still, I really can't complain, at stock the card will chew up anything I throw at it and for a shade over £100 you can't really argue with that.

640 seems really low - maybe its overheating? mine does 740 no hassle and I don't see artifacts until I hit around 780 - but it will lockup after 2-5 minutes of gaming at around 752+.

I have done the 1.1v mod on mine but that doesn't really increase the max clocks much.

Well it isn't particularly cool but running ATI Tool's artifact scanner its running at 77C with clocks set at 640/975 which from what I gather is well within spec.

Just starting to dabble with oc'ing my card, and wanted to ask, as a general rule of thumb, how long do you guys run ATI Tool's artifact scanner for?

Only a few minutes cause I have the ozone3d furmark running in the background.

This heats up the gfx card like nothing on earth whereas ATI tool takes 10+ min to reach top temps.

Google it and download it.

Start it running as stress test in a window not benchmark.

Let that cook up your GT for a few minutes then run the ATI tool artifact scanner.

Keep clocking until you get errors, then back down.

Once you find you max, you can leave ATI tools running for 10-15 minutes to make sure.

Resurrecting this thread from the dead! ;D

I've got a Gainward BLISS 512mb 8800GT with the stock cooler. Would it be worth it to OC it? Would it even be noticeable? And what sort of temps should I be looking at under load?
