*** The Official AirPods {all gens} (and AirPods Pro [and AirPods Pro 2nd generation]) thread ***

Tried these at work yesterday.
Sound quality is similar to AirPods 2 - possibly a bit better due to the way they fit in the ear and noise cancelling.
ANC was quite good - was good enough to remove 95% of ambient sound from a busy Apple store
Transparency has its uses I’m sure but if you need to hear what’s around you it’s probably better to just turn ANC off.

Not as good as similar offering by other high end brands in terms of sound quality or noise cancelling but that’s not what AirPods are about .. convenience of charging and pairing etc

Out of my budget but can see them being popular with a certain audience, suspect we will continue to sell AirPods 2 more due to price however

Mine should be arriving within the hour. Although I expect the courier might be delayed as the M5 is closed in both directions near where I live so traffic on other roads is a bit busy this morning.

That's not a good sign!

I'm just doing some back to back testing with various tracks, bass is noticeably improved with the Pro's, especially with bass heavy artists such as Deadmau5. Nowhere near as good as my Sennheiser cabled in ears, but better than Gen 2. On normal music there isn't a huge difference I admit, but artists like Richard Ashcroft I can hear more clarity in the bass riffs and drum rolls going down the toms. But if you're a bit of a bass head then there's a marked improvement.

How are people finding the ANC
I work from home so not a great environment to test in but it appears alright so far. Certainly nothing like QC35 as an example but pretty decent for in ears. I'll have to report back once I've been out and about.

Another thing I've noticed is the gen 2 tend to lose quality at higher volumes, the Pro's do not until the last two notches, which is louder than you'd want anyway as they seem to be louder at lower volumes, most likely due to the ANC.

One thing I don't like is that they don't snap into the case anywhere near as easily or nice as the gen 2.

I own the QC35II and they are amazing but I get hot ears and really want something in ear, I purchased the new Sony MX in ears but the app was shockingly poor and I never got to hear them at full ANC but they didn’t fit securely anyways so I wasn’t too worried!

Had mine delivered this morning but think I either have an issue with my Iphone 11 Pro Max or the Airpod Pros as the bluetooth stack is crashing when they are being paired and its not detecting the left one being put in my ear so won't let me run the ear tip test although I can use them for music playback. I have the Sony WF-1000XM3 and these are more comfortable, sound signature is quite different with less bass, but not listened to them enough to be say which I prefer. Looks like I need to head down to apple in a bit and get them to check the phone and the airpods :(

Comparing these with my Powerbeats Pro, actually preferring the sound of the AirPods Pro.
That’s positive?

Interested to hear your verdict as I also use WF-1000XM3. I find them comfortable enough and the sound quality makes up for the large case but I do miss how easy and quickly my AirPods joined the phone.

The Sony's would have to be massively better in sound quality to overcome the convenience and support that the AirPods get out of the box, iCloud pairing, speed of connection, OS support etc etc. The Pro's fixed the only real issue I had with previous AirPods which is the fit and seal.

I'm sure the Sony's probably sound better, but they are a lot larger and you lose all the Apple 'Magic' with them.

CNET seemed to prefer the AirPods to the Sony's overall.
