*** The Official AirPods {all gens} (and AirPods Pro [and AirPods Pro 2nd generation]) thread ***

Over the last few weeks I've been getting tracking notifications on my iPhone for a set of AirPod Pro's. They're my AirPod Pro's though albeit in their charging case so I don't know why it'd bother telling me that owner could potentially track my location using them. I'm the owner, I think it's OK that I know where I am.

You can snooze the notifications, but it's only temporary.

My other half has the same thing, he's often notified that her AirPod Pro's are travelling with her.

I could understand it if my work iPhone were warning me about my personal AirPod's but no, it's my personal iPhone warning me about devices that it's paired with.

No such problem with my AirPod Maxes though.
Are your devices all on the same Apple ID?

I've got 2 Apple ID's. All my personal stuff is on one Apple ID and all my company stuff is on a different Apple ID.

Here though it's my personal iPhone and personal AirPod Pro's that I'm referring to. I've never seen the personal iPhone complain about the company AirPod's or the company iPhone complain about the personal AirPod's.

For my other half, all her Apple stuff is on the same Apple iD yet her iPhone frequently warns that her AirPod Pro's are travelling with her.

Mine are really becoming a nuisance with the right pod continually not charging - I have tried to clean it all out using a tool specific for it etc but it just happens soon again! Wish they would hurry up and do the USBC case but guess that'll come with the new phones

Any recommendations on the Gen 2 cases? Been looking at leather … not sure the additional cost is worth it?
I got this, not the cheapest but excellent quality and the lanyard is a nice touch

£29.99 from Amazon

My Powerbeats Pro have finally died. Can't complain as I've used them 5-6 days a week since launch. Problem is: when I've compared them side to side previously to potential upgrades in the Apple ecosystem, i.e. Beats Fit Pro and Airpods Pro 1 I was disappointed in the lack of V-shaped or bass centric sound. The Powerbeats just sounded more lively for my musical tastes - which is various electronic genres such as techno, house etc. My partner has the Airpods Pro 1 and I tried them again lastnight. They seem louder but the low frequency bass response just isnt there, just a mid-bass hump and far more treble. It felt headache inducing to me.

I intend to try the Airpods Pro 2 in the Apple store at the weekend, alongside the Beats Fit Pro again. However I'm also conscious the Sonys are due a release end of July/early August. Any opinions or feedback please?

Do they need to be buds? I got some cheap over the ear headphones and they sound pretty good for the price.

Sorry - I left out one piece of useful information. They are primarily for gym usage (weight training). Maintaining a fit without hooks may be an issue but intend on trying my partner's Airpod 1s tonight to see how well they stay in.

Can certainly recommend the AirPods in that case. Just make sure you pick the tips with the correct size. You can do a fitness check on your iPhone to make sure it is correct.

I’d also recommend the AppleCare for them - on the first gen I had some issues and having the AppleCare which I think is quite cheap helped massively.

Oh drat. I think I put that off thinking I'll do it nearer the end of the expiry zone and I bet I've missed it now. *goes off to check*

Oh I did. May 2025 it expires.
