Not needing the all core performance of the 12900k I set PL2 to 125W and use a -0.06 offset. CBr23 score just touches 25k at 60C, while gaming appears to be ~45C. This is with default air cooling.

Edit - Have been using a -0.07 offset today without issue.

Man you like that small E-peen,embarrassing. J/K PC gaming is fine on 12900K especially at higher resolutions at default 12900K speed with lower voltages, also fine overclock for bigger E-peens

5400Mhz All core 3 Hours PC Gameplay with offset voltage overclock, PC gaming Temperatures between 25°C -55°C. No FPS difference from 12900K default setting to overclock for my use case.

I've got a lot to learn jumping up from a 3770k. I doubt I would see any difference in game with an OC? Gaming temps are ~45C, but I imagine will vary wildly from game to game. DDR5 is still at stock 1.25V, although I've changed from 36-36-36-76 to 34-34-34-72 stable for more than a week now.

How much power do you see the CPU draw while gaming? I'm seeing ~80W so far.

I'll keep playing with the VRAM, in an attempt to justify DDR5, then maybe revisit the CPU.

I have a 3770K rig also. I should do some test against 12900K at 4K PC Gaming.
Just saying there a 3hr video with how much watts the CPU package is using along with CPU,GPU,RAM,Vram information if you want to check it out.

When using a 3090 at 4K, CPU is very important for minimum FPS values. Most reviewers will just show average, which will make it look like a Ryzen 1800 or 4790K does as well as a 5950X or 12900. Look at minimums and there is quite a big difference.

Got my MSI Motherboard Cash Back after 10 weeks.
Spending lets say a couple thousand on a new 12900K,Ram,Mothboard,NVME and worried about $20-$50 bucks ,interesting it is when you think about it.

Just got round to building my 12700K based system, is there an idiots guide to get the best consumption vs performance - because I'm most certainly an idiot when it comes to CPU undervolting/overclocking!

I have plenty of cooling available but I don't like unnecessary power draw/heat where it can be avoided :)

Well, the Asus one is £75 (so more like $100) which is large chunk of what the motherboard costs to be fair.

Okay so had a quick play with the 12700k this evening while downloading games/software, just dropped the vcore by 0.100v using adaptive offset which dropped power consumption to a max of 140w, temperatures not breaching 64c while running R23 multi core which scored 21994pts - pretty happy with it as is and probably won't try and push for lower voltage/higher clocks to be perfectly honest.
