Tubes bottom or top no right or wrong just make sure that if your pump is on the cold plate then pump is not the highest point of the loop so that any air bubbles don't travel up and sit at the pump.

Just to state that the reliability history tool in Windows has been looking much better since those SA and RAM BIOS changes. The odd one here and there are nVidia driver updates and stuff but everything is on the upward now hah.

A little known but very useful tool to check up on every now and then.

How come poeple are using MX paste? When I was looking at all options on the table during this build it was clear from forums, reddit etc that Thermal Grizzly was the only choice for high performance paste. Not the cheapest but the performance vs cost goes hand in hand.
 
Honestly I used the included spreader thing and had zero problem spreading the whole IHS! In fact I thought it was too easy as was expecting a bit of faff based on some comments in one reddit thread.

You literally are spreading it in a Karate Kid wax on, wax off motion but on a much smaller scale. That's the best way I can describe it and how I had zero issue at all.
 
Looks like if I ever come across 4000MHz DDR4 at a good price then I have some scope to upgrade then although just how beneficial will it be over 3600MHz with the same timings? I guess by teh time that time arrives I will be ready to go to DDR5 anyway so may as well just stay where I am with 3600 :p

Will be keeping an eye on the next few vids he does as that seemed to be part 1! interesting he saw the power level and RAM quirks too, granted mine are all fixed now simply by adjusting a couple of voltages.
 
I suspect you are right. If I ever go for faster DDR4 then it's something to keep in mind and scale VCCSA accordingly if that is indeed the case although for now, 1.3v and 1.4 on the DDR is the right spot for stability! Not had a single app crash as of yet!
 
100% load in what app? Exporting a video with all 20 threads at 100% gives me a CPU temp of no more than 45-50 degrees for example, whilst exporting a batch of photos in Lightroom the temp rises to around 60 degrees or so. All down to the instructionset being used I guess. Cinebench MT run also yields no more than 75 degrees for the CPU. 280mm AIO here with Kryonaut paste.
 
Keep in mind it could have a bearing on the paste as well. From my reading around before building this and choosing paste it was mentioned around the web from many people that temps are lowered by at least 5 degrees in some instances and around 8 in others using kryonaut/hdronaut.

So that may well have a bearing as well as what method you use to apply the paste, blob in middle, spread on the HS and how thick etc it is. My method was a thin layer spread. Also my AIO fans are configured to pull air through the radiator fins with the rad attached to the front of the case so it's pulling in cold air directly from the front so is more efficiently cooled at the same time.
 
I treat most horror stories like this, you will \always find negative reviews of something in more volume than positive reviews as positive experiences are not as often talked about whereas everyone wants to moan and groan about stuff with issues. Those without issues just carry on using the product without even thinking about it as it is doing exactly what it was made to do.

Personally I've never had issues with Realtek cards but have had issues with the Intel/Killer Gaming NIC built into previous mobo. Luckily that mobo had dual LAN ports so I just used the Realtek port instead and all was well.
 
That must have been before Alder Lake then? I wasn't even considering a system upgrade until November time when the leaks/release etc drew near. I suppose since the issues were resolved then it was no longer a cause for concern for any Alder Lake upgrade as the fix is included out the box.
 
Windows Update will have installed the latest December 2021 driver, it did for me. I then manually updated recently to the January 2022 driver.
 
Is it definitely the Mobo's LAN that is dropping in and out? As in can you see it in Windows disconnecting and reconnecting? Also, if you run a speedtest.net test does the end report show heavy packet loss/jitter?
 
It sounds like it's having trouble handshaking the connection rate as in switching between 10/100/1000 - Can you manually in device manager set the network adapter to 1Gbps assuming you have a Gigabit LAN instead of leaving it on the default auto and retry?

If that fixes it then that's what is the cause. Have seen it in the past on others machines but that's going back to XP days lol.
 
That is old skool thinking and no longer valid^^^

Gone are the days where latency and CPU usage between NICs was a thing. Modern PCs are so efficient/powerful that the difference in CPU usage from NIC to NIC is inconsequential/a non-issue. I'd be very surprised if anyone ever saw "much more" CPU usage on a Realtek vs Intel. Besides, issues existed on both realtek and Intel NICs and still do which later get sorted with newer drivers.

Essentially use whatever works/is convenient. The performance difference between NICs now is so small it's not even a consideration factor on a modern PC.
 
You cannot cite a few years old tech article because it's not relevant any more. Both have some bugs here and there, both have them sorted with drivers. Some people will always have some configuration or faulty hardware specific issues with anything, just the way it is.

There is very little difference between them on modern hardware, this isn't a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact.

FWIW I am on a Gigabit internet connection and have no problems maxing out the capability of GIgabit with no stability issues whatsoever. 945Mbps at all times, my internet connection is actually provisioned at 1150Mbps though but I am limited by the Gigabit network I have since the router and switch are Gigabit only hence 945Mbps.

Articles and posts on reddit going back remarked on issues when your internet speed was above 500Mbps (although nobody seems to have posted any conclusive proof other than opinions), that may have been the case, but I've had over 500Mbit internet for a few years now and had the dual NIC Z170 mobo since 2015 - As mentioned only the Intel NIC on that board had stability issues whilst the Realtek was flawless.
