And if you just use the gps without the e-sim. You still get the same functionality like calls etc if you just pair it with your iPhone via Bluetooth.

I’m guessing the e-sim just gives you the flexibility of not having to have your phone with you all the time although my phone never leaves my pocket so I reckon the cellular part would be a waste of money for me.

Bingo! If you have the regular one and you have your phone with you, you can still answer calls on your watch. I've never bothered with the cellular version for that reason, my phone is always with me!

If you were a runner or something I can see why the cellular version would appeal as you'd be able to still call and stream music.

The more i think about it, i'm tempted to pick up a cheap cellular S4 and then hold out for the S6 next year.

Benefits of the S5 would be "newer", extra space for music (although i already get a bump going to an S4). Might see what a cellular S4 ends up changing hands for.

It's a bit annoying that if you want any other material besides aluminium you can't get a non-cellular stainless/titanium/ceramic.

How well does the aluminium hold up on these?

I really wanted a stainless or titanium.

The always-on is cool, but as above, absolutely 0 need to upgrade from my S4 as apart from that there's nothing really new.

Titanium and ceramic are hnnnnggggg though. I wonder/hope if scale of production means eventually these will be less mentally priced.

Yeah not worth upgrading my S4 but the new WatchOS 6 looks nice, just grabbing the GM release now.

Always on display will definitely be something I’ll enjoy next year when I’ll probably upgrade to the S6.

Anyone know when the Apple stores will have physical examples in to try?

Torn between a Ceramic or Titanium, however also want a Hermes band, so going to beed to "mix and match" in person.

I wanted to jump to a Cellular one on o2 for these but business o2 doesn't support the apple watch would you believe, can't and don't want to swap to a personal plan so its a 44mm none for me.

Can anyone summarise the differences in materials and what impact they have between the watches? My understanding are Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Composite & Titanium but finding it hard to work out the merits of each from the website.

There's no impact on the actual watches (except it's only the Aluminium which offers a non-cellular mode). The internals/screen is all the same i believe.

It's just about looks mainly.

Stainless steel is heavier than the other options and scratches more easily but can be polished, ceramic is very scratch resistant but can shatter. The Aluminium watch doesn’t have the sapphire screen so can be scratched.

As a heads up for anyone else. EE are doing £50 cashback with TCB on the apple watch.

Makes the aluminium Cellular one £650 over 2 years including the line rental. Seems to be the best price i've seen.

Oh, I wasn't aware the Aluminum one didn't have the sapphire screen. How much better is it?

I've got a regular S3, so it's now 2 years old. I don't have a screen protector on it and i use it for playing 5-a-side (goalkeeper), loads of DIY and don't particularly treat it with any care and my screen is pretty much perfect so i personally wouldn't be bothered.

Cheers mate. I'll keep my order how it is, it's already on the upper limit of what I want to spend on a smart watch.
