If it turns up faulty, I think you get a brand new replacement?

I can't see how that's going to happen. Ask for Wesley apparently. He fixes everything ;) .

Well my last replacement seemed to be brand new. Everything looked the same as the first I got. Well apart from missing a sheet of cardboard under the motherboard.

Yes, but your board wasn't a B-grade, was it? C'mon - keep up with the flow of the thread.

I saw somewhere else saying that replacement products can be taken from their B-grade or clearence stock. I was a bit sceptical at that as I have paid for a brand new product not a b-grade.

Exactly - and I doubt very much that, even with their reputation, OcUK would ship B-grade stuff as a replacement for a new part. ;)

Nice sig btw.

Upgraded today to Core 2 Duo E6600, Asus P5N-E SLi and Crucial Ballistix 2GB PC2-5300C3.

Whats the general opinion on the best BIOS for the motherboard? Out of the box it has 0307.

And any tips on getting a decent overclock on the CPU and ram on this board?

Thanks

Okay I recieved my new P5N-E today and the good news is it seems to be working. I can tell that by the fact that it is beeping about my graphics card being broken.

If you want to try helping me fix by graphics cards (I knocked bits off :() then head on over to this thread and look at the pretty pictures.. go on.. you know you want to.. pictures.. of techie stuff.. you can't resist.. go on.

go on go on go ongoongoongoongoongoongoon

Okay well my dad managed to scrounge an old X600 from work. Let's me get into windows atleast :)

This motherboard seems to be going good. Finally able to see what my 6300 can do!

Running Orthos now at 3.15Ghz, with memory at 900mhz. vcore is 1.475V and +0.100V is on. Memory is at 2.185V. NB is set to the 1.5 something. The second last one. I'll probably bump it up to 1.7V if I need to after I install my Noctua NB cooler. Probably gonna wait for my 2900XT or 8800GTS before I go all out on this rig though.

Temps are running around 60 or just under. Not bad considering I just left the same AS5 on that has been on the last few motherboard changes. Once I get my graphics card I'll redo the install and put nice fresh AS5 down for everything :)

Stable so far for 5min.. :p

EDIT: btw broke 20seconds in 1M superpi, got 19seconds on 3.15.

Also Geil ULL is running perfect at 900mhz so far. Was surprised. I was hoping maybe for 850 stable. Let's hope it lasts.

45 minutes :)

Looking good. temps peaking at 66, staying around 65 usually. Higher then I'd like, I might try dropping vcore and see if I can keep it stable.

So do I, 6hours 15min and still running strong at those speeds. I might try the RAM at 950 when I get home. That should give me 3.325Ghz which I would definitely be happy with. The RAM did get to post when I accidentally set it to 1066Mhz due to getting confused on the 1:1/Synced ratio settings. The first time thought it refused to boot. Could be an indication that it will run 950 okay with luck :)

As for a new graphics card I'll just have to take the wrath of my parents when they find out how much I'm about to spend. Seriously though, I'm 22.. got over 2K in the bank. I want to splash out on a top end graphics card for once. I'm a free person!!

/end teenage rebel angst.

I don't recommend anyone move back home for any period of time after living away at college for three years. Now that I have money I can rent a place with my gf this summer.

"Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

/personal rant.

Hehe I know about living with parents after you been away, its defo a big shock to the system.

If you are thinking of getting your own place, dont blow it all on a gfx card then :)

Too late.. just spent €406 on a nice shiny 2900XT from OCUK.

Biggest amount I've spent on a single item to date I think. Ouch.

I should be able to put 3-4K towards renting a place for a while with her. That should be long enough to get a decent paying job wherever we end up.
