** The Official ASUS P5N-E SLI & Ultra 650i Thread **

yes. About 789.

Yea, it's normal I think, does it with me, up it abit or just try 810 or 820.

then just leave it at that.

Or, reset the Bios, overclock the cpu back to the settings you are using and dont touch the ram, should allready be at it's correct speeds.

i went to 1450 from 1334. Upped Vcore by 1.....so was on bout 1.365v's. memory was exactly 800mhz unlinked and left voltage as 1.92. Booted up but didnt load windows. Restarted and tried again. Did the same thing. went into bios upped Vcore to 1.37v's but still nothing.

What now?

Dont leave the NB voltage on auto, put it to 1.7 if you can actively cool it, 1.5 if there is no airflow over it.
Use the option of saving your bios settings so that once its stable, save those settings before raising the fsb, at least you know you have a stable setting to go back to if you have problems. Dont try and OC the CPU and RAM at the same time either.
With 1.7 going through an actively cooled NB, this mobo will do 1950 fsb.

I got my CPU to 1333 Fsb.... 1.45 Vcore - 1.5NB Ram as standard.... and i was getting restarts in windows. No BSOD but just a restart under load. When stressing the CPU to full.

????

Not enough volts somewhere, OR something is extremely hot. But at 1333MHz for it to be failing with 1.45V on, something in the set-up isn't right. Do you have the +100mV forced on or at AUTO?

[EDIT]I just spotted it's a Q6600. You've done very well at 1333MHz as these N650i chipsets don't clock well with Quads - especially the ASUS version with it's fairly basic three-phase VRM. I've had 3.4GHz out of a Q6600 G0 in a Gigabyte N650i-DS4, but the P5N-E isn't really designed to do Quads.[/Edit]

He also does not have any active cooling on the NB aswell I dont think.

I'm thinking of purchasing 1GB 2x 512mb) of the same ram I have now, will this mobo be fine with 2x 1gig and 2x512meg? I wont run into any problems will I?

I have no active cooling on the NB, just stock HS with nothing done. 1.7v and its fine at 1707 QDR.
My case has no side panel though, on either side or any panels actually :D

I use kingston 2x1gb but I bought a spare stick for a couple of quid for when it gets fussy.
So I actually put it all in at once (bf2 can be a hog) for 2.25gig but I only run it at stock.
I havent tried to clock it, the extra stick is only 4300 so I run it all at 266 at present.

Your'll be fine at stock I reckon but it wont clock as well

Surely I'll get 850Mhz 4-4-4-12 outa them? thats not even a high overclock for this ram lol.

Yea they did clock well, in the black slots. In the yellow slots they would do about 50mhz over stock.

I bought a 2 quid bit of ram off ebay for emergencies. Turns out that bit of ram is more usefull to me to have in the machine then to actually clock it more then 266. The cheap ram is 4300 only
I should buy some more basically but I cba

I hope I wont loose performance from keeping it at 667 and lowering the timings, I hope I get a performance increase formt he extra gig even if the clocks go down.

Ive raised it to 333 now and it runs superpi so turns out I was just being lazy :p
I'll try 1:1 maybe but it seems unlikely, the cheap ram is spectek whoever they are

Why do you need more memory?

2GB aint enough memory, especially since I'm using vista and I WANT to use Vista, it's better than XP, just needs more ram, and also if I did go back to XP, I can have as many windows open as I want and play games and it will be better than 2GB ram.
