** The Official ASUS P5N-E SLI & Ultra 650i Thread **

18 months of cpu temp at 80c and nb at 50c and my mobo is kicking up a fuss with my 60% overclock now. Freezing and hard resets
Hopefully its just some dust but I cant open the case to see without hassle & cba, but for now its back to stock :(

I noticed this thread is the third most replied to in the section, does that make it a crap or good motherboard Im not sure :D

You aren't the only one. I've been back at stock for almost a month now... only i've been using a garbage 300W generic PSU during that time. ;)

I'll be getting myself a Corsair HX620W very soon, coupled with a 4870. I'd of gone with the GTX 2xx series, but they are just not competively priced to futureproof the board with SLI at the moment.

The board is still going strong and long may it continue.

DescriptionP5N-E SLI BIOS 1101.

4. Fix it shows incorrect CPU frequency under "Properties" of "My Computer" when the following conditions are met:
-Using multiplier-locked Merom CPU

-EIST in the BIOS is enabled
5. Now system would no longer halt upon showing keyboard error message.
6. Fix it might be unable to update BIOS from Internet by Asusupdate under Windows Vista 64bit OS.

I can't seem to upgrade to the new BIOS.

I'm stuck on 0401 and saw no reason to upgrade to the latest BIOS, but recently bought a Razer Habu mouse and i'm getting usbehci.sys BSOD's which is probably due to the ultrapolling of the mouse.

I gave the mouse the latest software/firmware beforehand to no avail.

But when I get to EZ Flash and check the 1101.BIN file I have on a reformatted USB disk (FAT), it says I can't upgrade because the file is a downgrade to my 0401 BIOS???

It even states the 0401 BIOS in the left corner as my current BIOS created in the year 2007 and the 1101 BIOS in the right corner stating it was made on 06/11/08... yet it thinks it's a downgrade... WTF! :D

Phew, took the somewhat risky endeavour of using AsusUpdate and it worked a charm. Sitting comfty at 1101 and seeing no signs of problems. I wouldn't advise AsusUpdatae using it given the amount of dead boards it creates, but as a last resort it's worth it if you can afford too.

Will OC later and see what that brings up. Will have to test further to see if I get anymore usbehci.sys BSOD's. I did only get one before, but that was enough and Asus's updates do show Razer mouse fixes.

Been getting a few instant shutdowns over the last week, thought it could be due to the heat but also a bit suspicious of the new BIOS. May roll back to 1002 if it persists.

Hi all,

I am still on the original bios of 0202. I never upgraded as it was rock solid so couldnt seethe point.

I am about to upgrade from 2X1gb sticks of PC6400 to 2x2gb sticks of OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Platinum Series DDR2 (OCZ2P10664GK)

I guess I may have to update the bios for compatibility. Having not read up on this thread for a while could anyone let me know which is the best/problem free version of the bios I should install?

Thanks for your reply

Deks

You may be OK with 2 x 2Gb sticks on that BIOS. For 4 x 1GB definitely you'd be better off updating, but I reckon you should try it first with 0202

hi
im using coretemp on this board to measure the cpu temps and was wondering in core temp do i leave the tj max at 100 or is it supposed to be lower then that

I was still on 0202 bios till today but my overclock was flaky so updated bios to latest version, booted into windows checked cpuz and stability all ok restarted tried to enter bios get a black screen, monitor is still on but can't see bios screen:confused:
Dont have a floppy and it wont let me downgrade bios from usb stick using ezflash any ideas??

cheers

Try clearing the CMOS with the jumper, if you haven't already. This is an absolute necessity for this board with upgrades with certain BIOSs
