To be honest not as good as I was expecting but I'll still be picking one up, performance increase in some games is impressive but others not so good.
 
My 4870 x2 was sent back to asus because it went **** up, now im pretty sure asus do not make the 4870x2 tri-fan anymore. What are the chances of them sending me a 5870?
 
great service yet again from ocuk. ordered when in stoc at 8am then rang and they said i have one. Just rang now and they said i didnt get one in the allocation. They have taken my money and it takes 5 days to go back. Just cancelled and im off to ******, last time im ordering from there. If they had told me when i rang this morning that would have been better. They cocked my other order up big time before two weeks ago as well, its everytime now, what a croc LOL.

Got to say tho they do look nice :) much better looking then the older coolers on the 4800 cards they look more like Nvidia cards on the maket atm i think more boxed in which i like that look :D

That really is complete crap isn't it, taken the money for it and you aint even got one and THEN you have to wait 5 days for your money back, terrible terrible service.
 
Does the card come with a HDMI cable ? Reasson i ask is i do have a HD monitor and is HDMI better than the normal than a DVI cable ? as its better on TV not sure about monitors ?.

Also last question is does anyone know if NV will have HDMI cables as i dont belive the 295s have a HD output ? or do they ?.
 
i dont really mind not getting the card just dont like being lied to everytime when i ring ocuk. truth is fine.

i found another in stock half hour ago but cant order it now as they have my money :(
 
Leviathan - HDMI and DVI are signal-wise, basically the same AFAIK. The main advantage of HDMI is that you can slap it into a switching amp, and have your tunes come out of the hifi in glorious uncompressed magicalness. Most ATI cards come with a special HDMI dongle that carries sound through the DVI socket and pin-outs it to the correct connector on the HDMI cable - generic HDMI dongles don't do that as far as I know.

With DVI, you only have a monitor connection and have to do the audio seperately - or HDMI it into the monitor/TV if it's speakers are up to it.

Not sure about the NVs.
 
Can someone please give me a quick indacation on how much faster these are compared to a 4870 1Gb?

Specifically the 5850 1GB, is it worth selling my 4870 for under a £100 and getting a 5850? Doubt I could get the 5870 as I don't have £200-£300.
