Can someone please give me a quick indacation on how much faster these are compared to a 4870 1Gb?

Specifically the 5850 1GB, is it worth selling my 4870 for under a £100 and getting a 5850? Doubt I could get the 5870 as I don't have £200-£300.

It's not the 1gb one listed, but that should give you an idea.

Bear in mind that the 5850 listed here was a softmodded 5870 with the clocks wound down and some shader cores disabled to represent the published 5850 spec - but it should be a reasonably good estimate of the performance to expect.

Thanks. Hhhhmm, what to do? If I do upgrade, will be the shortest time I have owned a GFX card. Might wait a few weeks for the dust to settle.

Crossfire them? I don't know if it would work but ATi allows a lot of mixing and matching...

I'm wondering how much a 4850 would compliment a 5850.

How do you mean, in Xfire, as if so, it wouldn't as its a different series, can only be Xfired with another 4 series.

Hells yeah, I'm planning on going i5 or AM3 at christmas with this. Are you getting a 5850 or 5870?

5870, i just hope the custom cooled ones have the power connectors on the sides like the ref's, or ill not be able to fit one.

Should have bought a good case

5850 for me, £200 is a good price for something nearly as quick as the 5870.

stick with the 4890 you wont see any gains buying it

its going to dissapoint a few people.

depending on what your upgrading from

most people already have good graphics cards i dont think you will see much or any difference in gaming.

These seem to be the newest drivers available, found them over at Rage3D.

They apparently have an MSI branding logo but other than that they should be fine.
