*** The Official ATI Radeon HD 6950 Overclocking Thread ***

What volt did you use? My card is crashing when going over 920 :/ Mayby i should use some more volt? i´ve tried to set the volt to 1.3 but it´s still crashing.
stock voltage..

i thought there no voltage control software out yet for the 6900 series

Looks like some great work going on here and I'm very tempted to pick up a 6950 :)

I need a push though so would I see substantial gain moving from two crossfired 4870 512mb cards to one 6950?

Keep up the good work :D

does the 6970 bios have a higher load voltage than the 6950 bios?

my 6950 could only clock to 855 core, 860 would cause heaven to crash and games. so i decided to flash to 6970, now everything runs fine at 880!! 1375, heaven and gaming no crashes, however i did make it crash once and that was because i used auto fan profile, when the temps started to hit 91c it crashed. if i keep below 90 it can go forever by the looks of it.

was a bit sad to see my card wasnt a good overclocker like some on here but flashing it has made my day, maybe i can get past 900 now.

cheers, mine isnt the asus bios because my core is 880, i got the easy flash method package from techpower up, i think the bios in that is a sapphire 6970 bios.

using a ASUS bios in other cards doesn't let ASUS Smart Doctor work... i've tried it

It does work, it's just seems a little hit n miss.

I flashed my HIS 6970 to the Asus 6970 bios. But when I first tried Smart Doctor, it didn't give me any increase in core clocks despite increasing the voltage.

Last night I tried it again and was able to get a few 3DMark 11 runs at over 960 core and managed 990 core after setting 1.25V in SmartDoctor.
For the next run I pushed the voltage to 1.3V and was going to try for 1000+ but the benchmark froze before running, while loading and the display driver stopped responding.
Trying again with 1.25V and 990 core, and it froze again while loading the first benchmark.

Not sure why it didn't work initially, then worked for a couple of runs and then stopped again, lol

Are you using 3Dmark11 v1.0.1?

If so, it could be the benchmark because at stock frequencies people are getting those problems.

Yeah, running 1.0.1 with the beta system info build.
I don't have a problem with 3dm11 anymore, apart from the system info scan reading wrong information. but that's been reported and worked on according to Jarno at futuremark.

Managed a 1000 core run in 3dm11 today and broke 6000 :)

linky?

My clocks in ccc and afterburner only slide as far as 840, there is a hack but I've been told because its xfire and afterburner isn't totally compatible with 69xx and xfire it bsod's if I force it past 840
Just wondered if anyone had a new update / fix for xfire clocking
