*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

This update includes not only new bug fixes, balance changes and Quality of Life improvements, but also the first of our planned launch map reworks, alongside the initial Style and Tone changes for some of our Specialists:

  • Kaleidoscope has been reworked to offer an improved gameplay flow through new cover assets, flag positions, terrain elevations and visual updates to several locations on the map
  • We are introducing the first Style and Tone change for our Specialists, which includes several updated character models
  • The power of the RAH-68 Huron and YG-99 Hannibal 30mm Cannon has been reduced by making it overheat at a much faster rate. This will help to limit their impact on infantry and bring it more inline with our balance
  • A Player Profile and Statistics page is now available in-game. It provides an overview of your performance and progression since launch
  • Aim Assist on Controllers has been adjusted to ensure it feels smoother and more consistent while tracking moving targets
  • The BSV-M Full Auto mode now receives an accuracy penalty, and High Power rounds now lose damage faster over distance

Anti-Aircraft Missiles - Damage increased from 130 -> 210. This means it's now a 2-hit kill against the Nightbird and Jets, and will leave Attack Helicopters at critical HP.
Anti-Aircraft Missiles lock on range increased from 400 -> 600m
Dual 30mm AA Cannons minimum damage has been removed. It now always does the same damage at all ranges
Dual 30mm AA Cannons now do slightly more damage against Jets and all Helicopters

We felt the offensive capabilities from the MV-38 Condor and Mi-240 Super Hind against infantry were still too strong. We are adjusting their 50mm Cannon to help further limit their impact on infantry, and to put more focus on these helicopters being intended as a means of transport.

Just re installed and had a few rounds, i must say...things seem better, i had a lot of fun and server was rammed, this is what it should have been at launch, at least its going in the right direction, its now fun to play :)

I bet it's a nightmare to play as a helicopter now, presumably everybody can still have a shoulder mounted AA gun, so you literally won't have a chance to exist for more than 3 seconds?

(I say this as a chopper main lol, but tbh - I haven't played the game for about 4 months)

I've just plated a few rounds too. Am I missing something, or is there still no server browser option? I'd like to know what the most populated game mode is. I'd also like some performance boost 60fps on medium at 1080p on a gtx 1080 makes me get the upgrade itch.

It's less likely to be your GPU and more your CPU that is limiting frames, 2042 is a very weird game with it's CPU usage. What CPU are you running?

I have a 5800x and 3070 and play with a mate who has a 5600x and 3080 - and I'm getting more frames just purely by nature of CPU usage.

Server browser exists in Portal - so open the Portal mode and then sort by players and you'll see the active Portal servers there. There are some really popular 128 player Rush servers that are running right now, they seem to be the most popular.

The game responds very well to high IPC and tuning RAM timings at 1080p. I increased my minimum FPS significantly upgrading to a 12700k and dialing my RAM in.

Been playing a lot of HCC server, they run hardcore and full xp so great for piling through the battlepass thing.

As for performance I used to manage 90+ fps on ultra with a 3070ti and a 5600x but since 1.1 that dropped significantly down to 50 and sometimes 40fps... No matter what I do with the settings it doesn't change so I am adamant it is the game.

Someone has been running a Kaleidoscope and Exposure 128p conquest server on Portal with the stealth heli disabled and it's been great!

The redesigned kaleidoscope map is a lot better, especially the B flags, but in general there is just more cover from either containers or even small hills added round the E flags. I also like that they've increased the capture zone sizes on some of the points as well.

It's a really good change, just a bit worried that it took them almost 12 months to do this to one base map from launch - so where are we going to be by Xmas? 1 or 2 new maps and likely 1 or 2 redesigned original maps?

If we get some good Portal maps added (Siege of Shanghai, Operation Locker, Damavand Peak) then maybe that'll help?

Stopped playing this game awhile back, is it worth reinstalling after months of fixes? I had some great games despite the issues the game faced on release and months in but couldn't tolerate the issues after and uninstalled and forgotten about ever after.
