Two thoughts from watching the trailer:

1. 128 players is going to mean the CPU requirements for this are going to be (I assume) quite high.

2. Again 128 players might bring more of a Planetside 2 vibe to the game. Especially as it's futuristic too.

It looks good. Reminds me a lot of BF3 and BF4. Especially that skyscraper.

128 is only on current-gen consoles, last-gen is limited to 64 so roughly the equivalent CPU to a Zen2 8 core.

Next gen consoles are basically using a Ryzen 3700x (clocked a tad lower than desktop version) - so expect games to take advantage of this. BF2042 features 128 players, larger maps and lots of particle effects, explosions, destruction and weather events.

I expect this game will make old CPU's cry for mercy

Can't decide between normal or gold edition

I've gone gold. Can't be ****** to care for pre orders anymore. I know all my mates will be playing it and I'm sick of Warzone and I will never install Valorant so I'm just excited to have a new game to play with them.

That and they are basic when it comes to a game impressing them...

It's for these exact reasons I'm going to get it!

DICE usually have good scaling options so you can adjust a bit based on your hardware.

Can't decide between normal or gold edition

Gold seems to be the good option.

Frostbite engine scales well with more cores and now with 128 players the cpu is a likely good upgrade.
I wait for the 12 core 3DV stacked edition early 2022 to upgrade my 5600x

What do you get with gold over the standard?

On CD keys, standard says "NOTE: This is a pre-order, please read our Pre Order information here before purchasing"
as does ultimate. Gold does not

It also doesnt show the differences between standard, gold and ultimate (that I can see anyway)

Gold adds season pass.
1 specialist every season.
Then some gadgets ingame.
best value which is still a lot IMO.

So similar to COD with the battlepass.
If you just want to play the game, standard is fine i take it? By the sounds of it there are no weapons to level up / unlock anyway
