*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

Not tried it yet but seen one guy refer to it as a "baguette dispenser" so assumed it was a bit crap.

Hmm not sure I'd agree with that, I found it excellent with the TTK changes. It's powerful up close and at range with a scope. I thought it was the best weapon I have used so far.

Maps not loading, maps loading but having a blank screen with the overlay but no map, dying then no respawn UI, quit screen loading times, infinite map reload, not being able to change assignments in game, TTD, company coin at level 50, TOW tracking glitches etc are all more likely to impact attrition than the TTK.
Too many frustrating UX issues with the game, they shouldn't have even been looking at TTK.

For me, this game needs to concentrate more on getting rid of the most annoying bugs than releasing new maps and content. The boxes need redesigning to auto distribute to anyone in range like BF3 and also shouldn't fall through the floor. Also shooting over objects needs really looking at due to invisible wall rubbish. The netcode is my biggest gripe as I can work around most of the other bugs not that I know they are there, yet single frame kills, shot around corners and behind cover etc needs to just stop.

Exactly! I've been raging a few times this week over this, just seems to be getting worse!

Shot around corners, single frame kills and TTD being the worst

DICE are like the gift that keep on giving, they release two new weapons for the festive period, one for assault that outguns medic options in pretty much every scenario and a shotgun for support who already have two shotguns.

At this point I'm getting the impression they want to get rid of the class, they've already given revive options to other classes (squad dependant obviously) and the SMGs undoubtedly suck even in their supposed kill range.

I'm not sure the SMG sucks rhetoric is entirely correct, there are a few decent weapons once spec trees are unlocked. Yes the majority suck in anything but CQB. However, the MP40 is a decent jack of all trades at close and medium range if specced so and the thompson is absolutely lethal in hipfire CQB if specced for big mag.

As somebody who predominantly plays medic it would be nice to have the option of at least one strong medium range weapon for the larger maps but I think they want to avoid making a super class which can constantly heal up and snipe (like many did in BF1) so I get there is a balance issue especially with the attrition system.

They suck compared to other options, thats the problem. Assault, for example, have weapons that are viable at every single range.

Support even have weapons that are viable at all ranges, ergo SMGs suck.

The Sten is OK and one of the better options, the other being the Thompson. Still doesn't get away from the fact we're outgunned at virtually every range by say the G1-5, or the G43. We're even outgunned by the Drilling.

Talking about hipfire is fine, if the enemy is literally 2 metres away but anything outside of that is complete luck.

I got assault and support to 20 first and Medic third, you feel like a complete god playing assault compared to medic.

To an extent but it goes back to the point of attrition and creating too strong a class. My role has changed more so now, I stick with my squad try not to go solo and play a support role which I suspect is the intention. I'll admit that as a medic in BF1 and prior games it was a lot easier to solo but in BFV it's pointless as you need somebody else to take point.

It's a balance point but I think the intention is right, you can still rack up points doing what a medic needs to do but if you want K/D then any other class is immeasurably better at it. My K/D is lower as a medic but my score/min is higher than any other class I play with so again it's probably not far off where it needs to be (looking at Rossi's stat page that trend is the same for him).

I could live with it if SMGs were the best in their class, the problem being they're not.

If SMGs outgunned anything the other classes could offer up to, say, 20 metres I'd be happy but they don't. They're weak even in their own kill zone.

Yeah, agree. Like the PDW's in BF4. MTAR-21 is an absolute favourite of mine.

I barely played 1 but BF V has me missing Battlelog. Never ever thought I'd contemplate typing that.

Does anyone else just find this game boring?

I keep jumping back on it when i get a chance but rather than loosing myself like i used to in bf4 for example and the time flying, i find that after 30 mins max im bored and sorta dissapointed.

I have only got to L7 after playing for a couple of days, but I can't bring myself to play for long on each session. Seems my gun is firing peas whilst I get one shot, or people that I pump a clip into spin around and nail me. Played hundreds of hours of BF2, 3, 4, 1, 2142 and Hardline and haven't felt like this before. Does it get better when you unlock the gun specialities / new guns?

Not that ive seen. It has the occasionall moment of brilliance but then back to being bored.

To be honest i hated bf1 it was the beginning of the end for this series (excluding battlefront which was the beginning of the beginning) bf4 was the last good bf.

Anyone have an issue with resolution's on BF5 etc...?

I fired up the game, went to change anything from resolution, frame-limited options etc..

..and greeted with a black screen and only comes back once the settings are reverted to default???

The first tide of war achievement which is 200 vehicle damage is completely broken for me. I destroyed 2 tanks, 2 AA and damaged multiple other vehicles using PIAT and bombers and apparently none of it counted. Gotta love DICE...

Weird, Tried BF5 and Far Cry 5 there, works fine when I have the refresh rate at 120Hz

Also , how does my FPS seem? Seems a little low for me.. in BF5 im averaging around 85-100 fps on conquest 64 man multi-player, at 1440p and High detail. Ultra and its around 60-65 :(

Very little stuttering etc. though im pleased to say. Think the FreeSync on the monitor and VEGA 64 are working nicely in tandem.

Really liked this when I first started playing but must admit I'm bored now after around 30 hours on it.

Loaded up BF1 last night and found it much more enjoyable strangely, just prefer the maps I think.

Maybe my thoughts will change when they release more maps for BFV but none of them really grip me at the moment.
