The *OFFICIAL* BF2142 thread

Well if i remember right, BF2 was one of the first games to require 1GB RAM for the 64 size maps. I would i expect it pushes the requirements a bit further. But knowing EA it will be the same game engine as BF2 'Skinned' with 2142 vehicles, maps and weapons.... i hope it is so much more than that though!
 
Cant wait for this :D i love bf2, hopefuly my new system will perform well with it, not expecting 100fps like i get on bf2 at the moment though :(

if your PC runs bf2 it will run 2142 also, the devs' have stated they wouldnt want the new game to alienate existing players of the franchise.
 
If it's as vehicle biased as BF2 I can't say I'll be buying it. If I want to play on foot I don't want to spend 20 minutes hoofing it across a 20 mile² map. I like vehicles at times but the most fun I had in Desert Combat was in maps like Urban Siege and Basrah's Edge, can't say BF2 has ever captured that. Sharqi Penninsula was probably the best map I played but there's still a vehicle dominance.

Urban maps with chokepoints and no artillery or MBT's mowing infantry down and I'm sold.

That's just a cover-up to give them an excuse for using the same engine as BF2 ;)
 
Update on the Beta:

Battlefield 2142
Starting next week, Fileplanet subscribers will have the opportunity to check out the Battlefield franchise's foray into the future when the first phase of the beta begins. Players will be able to test out the new Titan mode as well as the wide array of new weaponry and vehicles. Some of the changes certainly sound like a lot of fun so we're pretty eager to take a look at the game ourselves.

anybody else see that webpage? it said like "first 100 people to email this get links to the beta" and i emailed it, then a few minutes later it changed to "100 people have now emailed" which is either filling me with false hope, or i have a chance. *crosses fingers*
