*** The Official Bloodborne Thread ***

I'm really enjoying Bloodborne, I'm up to the Shadow of Yarnham in Forbidden Woods, but it's taken me a LONG time to get there. I've never played any of the previous games, so the learning curve was pretty steep. I haven't found the bosses that tough though until this one. Maybe I've levelled too much. Forbidden woods seems way easier than some of the previous areas and gives tonnes of vials and echoes, before that I kept having to go back to Central Yarnham to farm vials :P

My vit, end, str and skill are all about 25 now, started leveling skill as it seemed a good option with Ludwig's Holy Blade and Riflespear. Looking online it seems like I've put too much in end?

I killed the Shadow of Yarnham recently too. Game is amazing fun and very difficult which I really enjoy. I still am completely lost, only have my default weapon but a Friend said the Ludwig's is easy too pick up.

Forbidden Woods isn't difficult.. but it is exhausting. Just seems like everything is trying to kill you and you're constantly having to really look at your surroundings. I've never had many problems with the Shadow(s), just use the big pillar to separate them.

25 endurance too much? Well the hard cap is 40 and that's where I'm at, for some weapons you just need the extra stamina in my opinion. If your level is over 50 that would probably be considered a little high for the Woods but honestly, just play the way you want and enjoy yourself especially if you have no intention of entering PvP.

You can buy Ludwig from the bath merchants once you have the right badge. Sure it's not available to buy already?

Finished the DLC last night and loved every minute of it :D, although I think I was a bit over levelled (140-145) for most of it apart from a few bosses (looking at you Ludwig :p). Time to get back to the main game (still on first play through) and chalice dungeons. Just killed Miclash and down to layer 2 or 3 in the defiled chalice, definitely not over levelled for that one :(.

To be honest I was unsure about this game to begin with, but it grows on you the risk/reward and stratification you get when you get past that area/boss you’ve been stuck on. My biggest regret is not getting it when it came out and only starting it in the new year.

I did not have a good time with Laurence last night on NG+. I've never seen a boss with as much health that hits so hard, I have 50 vitality and he was 2 shotting me. Must have spent almost 3 hours on him, I feel like I have my strategy correct now but it just seems like if you misjudge a dash even once that's likely to be the end of you. Actually dreading facing him again tonight.

Is it worth keeping insight at 15 or above, or does this make the game unnecessarily difficult? (3 bosses done and level 3 first chalice, 2 bosses)

Having insight above 15 supposedly makes some enemies have different attacks IIRC, so arguably should make the game more difficult. I can't say I noticed much difference.

I think it also affects certain cosmetics in the game, such as being able to hear a baby cry and the likes.

Edit, this is a fairly comprehensive list. http://bloodborne.wikia.com/wiki/Insight

Insight makes some differences, some don't affect gameplay and some do. The biggest difference being your frenzy meter, it builds up very very fast with higher insight. You won't really encounter frenzy until mid-end game stuff though. If I were you I would just keep all your Madman Knowledge and pop them only when you need to buy something from the Insight bath messengers may that be a blood rock or whatever.

I have this and dark souls 2 to play. In regards to mechanics etc is it better to play dark souls first? I enjoyed dark souls 1 a lot until I lost my save and rather than replay it I want to move on.

They play so differently it probably doesn't matter. Some people can't get into the faster more aggressive play style of BB but I think it's brilliant.

Forbidden Woods if you're looking for the next part of the story IIRC.

Quite liked it, nice change from the cathedral area. I even surprised myself downing the boss on my third attempt after struggling a lot more with Amelia. should have been second really as was a little low on vials. I was using a +4 cane but have switched now to a +5 Ludwig's, find it easier even without the reach. Hemwick next so it seems.

How many attempts do people generally take to kill bosses in this game? Cleric Beast took me 5 I think and father Gascoigne took me about 15. I nearly killed Blood Starved Beast first time. Now I cant get past 50% health on him the last few attempts. Not sure if I'm under leveled (31 I think) or more over leveled and just poor. I've never played a game anywhere near this hard before so I guess the latter.

Gascoigne, BSB and ebrietas took me ages first time round. NG+ I nailed gascoigne first attempt but then spent ages with Amelia. A lot depends on how you play
