My guy of choice. I'm a sucker for a defensively sound fighter. Don't get me wrong, I love watching a Gatti style tear up but I appreciate slick skills much more than just marching forward and taking punches.

Hagler was all about business. Though I always thought (delusional) that if I were a fighter it would be Hearns I would emulate. Like him, I have really long arms in proportion to my body so always figured his style would be what I'd try to do

Mind you he has more boxing ability in his pinkie toe nail than I would ever muster up

Eddie has been busy signing fighters lately. Jack Catterall, Regis Prograis and now this Cuban fella Andy Cruz. Some interesting matchups potentially.

Was a pretty nice elbow though. Flattened him! :D

Just caught up on the action from the weekend. How Romero is a world champion after that performance, and coming off a loss, is mind boggling. But I'm glad to see Ohara's team threatening the WBA with legal action if they don't enforce his mandatory position. Ohara must be laughing, this would be the easiest route to a world strap that there is.

Excited about Haney vs Loma this weekend. It's a close fight but and I wont be surprised with either man getting their hand raised at the end. Right now though, gun-to-head, I'm going to say I'm leaning 60/40 to Haney. His younger, fresher and significantly bigger. Loma hasn't looked his usual self the last few outings but he is still Loma so to think any boxer is going to have an easy night with him would be extremely naive of me. I do think Teo has shown a bit of a blueprint with how to fight Loma but does Haney have the power Teo had to earn Loma's respect?

I'm expecting a slow but technical fight and probably very cagey for the first few rounds. This will not be a slug fest but expecting a lot of impressive countering and traps.

Other than that? Not really too excited about anything other than Inoue vs Fulton. Fed up of the clowning around going around in the heavyweight division and it feels like the middleweight one hasn't had anything meaningful in a while

Is Loma past it?
I'm not sure I'd use the expression 'past it'. I'd certainly say he has slipped a bit but when you consider how good he was/is him slipping a bit is more like just levelling the skill levels. I suppose an argument could be made that Haney will be the, or one of the best, fighters Loma has faced (the opposite is also true). I would argue with myself and say Loma beat Rigondeaux who is probably one of the most skilled boxers out there but he was far too small for Loma. Whereas Haney is very skilled with a brilliant jab and massive compared to Loma. "A good big boxer beats a smaller good boxer" (not always true).

He's had a very long career though and a lot of miles on the clock. Father Time is undefeated.
