*** The Official Boxing Thread ***Do Not Discuss Illegal Streams

Illegal punches don't count and the low punch was classed as illegal.

Edit: For anyone still watching, if he got caught at the top of the belt now it would still be a low blow.
Wards was much more lower against Kovalev - imo Dubois should have had that stoppage.

Seems we have a reasonable split of opinion on here which tells you it's not as clear cut as Frank Warren believes.
How about another debate?
Did Dubois quit again like he did against Joyce?

its a blatant low blow. the rules are below the navel is low blow. its well below his belly button navel. problem is people think its the belt line which it isnt.
That's not the rules - the rule is below the belt line - not below the naval.
Read the rules - England Boxing rule book: 13.1.1. Types of Foul; a) Hitting below the belt, holding, tripping, kicking, and butting with foot or knee. Say's nothing about below the naval. Below the belt line is considered the groin. That punch was legit.

Doesn't the referee usually go over the rules in the dressing room, and explain where he says a low blow will be, as some boxers (like Fury) wear their shorts really high.

2. LOW BLOW/HITTING BELOW THE BELT

It is critical to know that the waistline is defined as the imaginary horizontal line through the navel to the top of the hips. This is so regardless of where the boxer places his trunks and or protector cup. The Referee should establish the waistline at center ring in his final instructions.

Different situations tbh.

I don't think you can rip on him for the Joyce fight, he fought a lot of that one compromised and potentially saved himself from a career damaging injury if he'd have carried on.

Tonight, honestly looking back, it was a pretty soft way to go out. He was probably starting to feel the pace, still rocked from the 8th and was caught with a crisp shot. I hate it when they decide at 9.5 on the count to try and shoot up and protest though, mentally he was done.

I'd argue even then that the punch was on the waistline - didn't look below the belt line given how far up Uysk had his trunks. As I posted earlier with the gif from the Ward/Kovalev fight - that punch that ended the fight was a lot lower, and below the 'imaginary horizontal line'. Either way, Dubois crapped out in the end anyway.
