Sad thing is for Zhang is that he's displayed that he's too dangerous for all the top guys now, they'll all want nothing to do with him.

Can only imagine Frank's face if Ngannou lands a punch from God and sparks out Fury now
He's got himself into mandatory position for Usyks WBO strap, they can run but they can't hide from the big bang Zhang!

Can see why everyone wants to avoid him. He can take a hit as well. I reckon he beats AJ, all he has to do is land two clean power shots.
The same AJ that beat him in the ammys? I don't think it's as simple as 'landing two clean power shots' as if AJ is just going to be a human heavy bag throwing nothing back.

Lets not get too caught up in the moment here. It would be a good fight but AJ isn't Joyce who just plods slowly in front of you and uses his face as a defence. I love Joyce, think he's a fun fighter to watch but his style was always a disaster waiting to happen.

I don't think AJ could take his power these days, he looks shot. Zhang took quite a few from Hrgovic so can definitely soak up a little. AJ could beat him if he danced around the ring all night but no way would he last of he actually engaged, he doesn't seem to want to engage either, he's safety first since his loss to Ruiz. AJ of yesteryear would have put it on Zhang, current AJ won't, unless he decides to change tactics, which I doubt he would because if Ruiz KO'd AJ then Zhang would send him to the shadow realm.

Based on? What makes you think AJ can't take Zhang's shots? I think for sure that AJ doesn't like getting punched, which is a huge problem for a professional boxer, but I haven't seen anything from him which would suggest he can't take a punch. I also don't think there is much evidence to suggest Hrgovic punches harder than Joshua. Joshua also dropped Zhang in the amateurs. If you can drop a man in bigger gloves and headgear you can certainly drop him with the little 10oz gloves.

AJ's biggest weakness and problem is that he clearly doesn't like getting hit. You can't swim without getting wet and the sooner he realises that the better.

I've never understood the 'chinnny' argument Joshua seems to attract. Of course he doesn't have a chin like David Tua but he is so far removed from a glass chin it's bizarre people make the claim. He was dropped by an absolute bomb by Wladamir, who I'd say most would rank him up there with heavy hitters like Earnie Shavers, and then he got hit behind the ears with Ruiz and never recovered.

I see Joshua vs Zhang as a 60:40 affair. I wouldn't be shocked with a Zhang win but I'd be expecting a Joshua win by stoppage in the championship rounds.

I'll have to rewatch his fights to confirm but since Ruiz it looks more psychological rather than physical chin. I will report back.

Anyway, more importantly that hypothetical match ups. It's Canelo vs Charlo this weekend. Mixed feelings. I like the Charlo brothers but I also like Canelo (drug cheat history aside). It's interesting because I want to see both men fight Terrence Bud Crawford. I want to see Crawford vs Canelo simply to see how big Crawford can go and the skills on display would be immense. Though I also want to see Crawford fight Charlo cause of the history between those 2. Seeing him call out Charlo whilst in the middle of putting an absolute beating on Spence and telling him "you're next". I just love how he wants all the smoke.

This I 100% agree with. He just doesn't like getting hit and ends up clinching. Wish he didn't learn the jab-jab-hold from Wladamir. It's like he has no faith in his chin but it wasn't his chin that ever failed him.

It's going to be really interesting if he ever reveals the events behind that fight. Something was right and you could tell from the way he entered the ring and the way his dad blew up after the fight. I'd love to know. Though, ultimately, he is a professional and entered the ring that night so I like he never made excuses but I just want to know what happened.

It's weird though because after Ruiz 2 he looked decent agaisnt Pulev but then came up short agaisnt a generational talent in Usyk. It's hard to see where he is with Derick James after 2 fights but I like the improvements I'm seeing. Just want to see if he can get his confidence back. He has all of the physical attributes to be on top but his mental game is lacking, for me.

I'm watching highlights from the Franklin fight, offering no insight whatsoever other than younger AJ would have had him out in under 3.

To be fair, if you pay attention to that fight you can hear AJ is just listening to Derick James' instructions. He never tells AJ to go for the KO. I also can't remember as, unsurprisingly, I haven't rewatched the fight but I seem to remember Franklin being quite negative and having his head agaisnt AJs chest quite a bit.

I was hoping for a KO that fight but if I compare AJ and Whtye's performance agaisnt Franklin. AJ never looked to be in trouble whereas I'd argue Whyte lost that fight and was super lucky to get the decision.

We've all got our faults I suppose ;) :p
I guess I don't care enough to sit through AJs recent fights at the moment, as you say the Zhang fight is hypothetical, I really can't see it being made.

Fury took a hell of a shot when he went down the first time. Sheesh, not sure many would get up from that.

Even myself as an AJ fan, I haven't wanted to put myself through watching Franklin or Helanius fights again!

I'd love Usyk to win but Fury's size and reach will be far too much for him imo.

He'll stay behind the jab and thump him from range then tie him up the second he gets within half a ring away from him.

Either a points win or a late stoppage for me.

Fury and Usyk, contracts signed. Fury will find an excuse to drop out, the fraud

I hope he sticks to it.

I don’t really like Fury so it pains me to say it but he is obviously going into the fight as a favourite.

But I really rate Usyk and Fury struggles with smaller fighters. I know it was a long time ago but if Steve Cunningham can cause Fury problems and drop him I don’t see why someone much more skilled in Usyk can’t do the same.

Either way. We will *finally* have a #1 in the division. Now just need Bivol and Beterbiev to do the same. I want ALL of the undisputed fights. All of them. I’m greedy.

Sweet Jeebus! It's (potentially) happening!

Must have been me rewatching the Fury Wilder fight that triggered it @Junglist :p The boxing Gods were listening.

It would be great to have a British guy bringing home disputed but I can't get behind Fury.

To AJ's credit (I'm not a hater) he has a better/tougher record than Fury. Fury could well lose.

Finally. And it paves the way for AJ vs Fury providing Fury wins. Then again, his ego would become so big at that point that I'm not sure a deal could be made.
