Deffo a joke fight... I don't blame AJ, cash in with the crest if this Saudi wave. I mean Fury has so why not.

Out of all the options now, I definitely think this is the easier fight. Joshua doesn't skip training and eat cheese sandwiches from Asda like Fury does, and Fury took Ngannou on when no one knew what to expect.

Think AJ will make light work of it in all honesty.

I still think the AJ Wilder fight would have been more exciting... even with Wilder being beaten by Parker.

The money men will never allow it but it would be amazing if Francis KO'd AJ  I'll be rooting for him!
How do the 'money men' prevent AJ from being hurt exactly? If he's hit by a big shot then he's going down. End of story.

I think it's an interesting fight personally. And If Wilder vs Zhang is co-main event then it's a better card than we got on the 23rd.

Pay Francis an extra £5m to throw punches only at 80% power, if that is too much then pay the ref to give him more than 10 seconds to recover. On top of the usual dodgy score cards etc.

I think we can all agree that AJ can't afford to lose the fight though.
He can't really afford to lose any fight though. Francis should be light work for him just as he should be light work for Francis if he ever dared step foot in a octogon.

Still not exactly 'happy' about this fight. Serves no one, other than lining all involved pockets. I'm all for fighters securing big paydays as it's their lives on the line for our entertainment but I just don't see exactly how this event would make me part with my own money unless it has a stacked undercard with fights that are actually interesting.

The only reason this fight is interesting is because Fury didn't do what he should've done and it's sort of legitimised this bout. Other than that it's pointless.

Something else which was pointless? Ohara Davies flight to Las Vegas. He found out first hand about old man strength!

It would obviously be a lot harder for AJ to step in the octagon because he has no ground game (that we know of), than vice versa.

The one thing you can say about Francis is that he does punch hard and he can also take a punch and has taken punches from people wearing less fist protection.

Francis has a 'puncher's chance'. Also he's has a bit more time to focus on boxing. I hope he wins! As unlikely as it may be. Let's not forget that AJ might not be willing to unload because of the power Francis has.

For sure, but even if he had a ground game I'd expect him to get flattened because he is a boxer and not an MMA specialist.

For sure he will have some whiskers on his chin. Though I'm not 100% I buy into your argument about taking punches from people with less fist protection. The protection is for the puncher, not the person getting punched. I'd argue in terms of pure punches, boxers get hit harder. Though they haven't got to worry about taking a shin to the face!

I'm not willing to get carried away with the whole Francis power thing. He quite clearly hits like a mule but does he have the delivery system to translate that punching power to boxing rules. It's all good and well smacking the hell out of one of those punching things but unless you have the skill to land it, it doesn't mean much. Fury has been dropped by cruiserweights so just because he dropped Fury I don't put too much in it.

It's heavyweight boxing, ultimately. A man the size of Francis hitting you is going to hurt, no doubt about it. I just find it hard to give him much more than a punchers chance because if AJ sticks to boxing he can wear him down and stop him late.

All that said though, I wont be upset if Francis won. His story is great and the fact I know his success is turning Dana White redder than a beef tomato is worth it.

I suppose you either love him or hate him, (I think he's alright)

But it's a really interesting talk:

Good find, I'll listen to this later.

I quite like Eddie. He's obviously a promoter so I have to view him through that lens but he comes across decent and the fighters who work with him have very little bad to say about him. I wouldn't sat I trust him but he's certainly the lesser of the evils that are promotors.

I don't know if he counts as a promoter any more but I really like and rate Sam Jones.

Shins, knees, elbows and hammer fists! I'm pretty sure a knee to the ribs is harder that a boxer's punch. I think Fury felt his power for sure and that's a someone who shared the ring with apparent heavy hitter Wilder.

I think it'll be interesting for sure and will probably watch it.

You’d think so, wouldn’t you? I don’t really watch MMA but I’ve seen a few highlight KOs and some nasty stuff there haha

Oh I’ll end up watching it I’m just not yet convinced I’ll pay for it

I watched one of those science programmes on Discovery once where they measured (I think) a kickbockers knee was the same force as being hit by a car at I want to say 20mph or something, they measured how far your insides move. Was a while ago though.

Thanks for sharing this, found it really interesting. Eddie is a bit like Christian Horner from F1 once he drops all the ********, he’s very engaging to listen to.

Hearn did always come across as decent to me, but I did used to roll my eyes a bit when people used to give him a lot of stick.

Having to deal with the super-fragile egos of people like Connor Benn, where they'll let an entire fight fall through because nobody can agree on who's name appears first on the poster.

Imagine having to deal with people like that in your job... :D

As much as I like to rag on Horny Spice (I can call him that in this thread!) he's actually a pretty decent character. Can't fault him for always backing his team
