Just out of interest, which past middleweight champs would you say were as good or better than GGG, out of say Chris Eubanks Sr, Nigel Benn, Sugar Ray Leonard, Alan Minter?

Isn't eubank Jr. Massive, I didn't think he was in same division as GGG.

Massive respect for kell, 5 of the best rounds I've seen in years. If he was a natural middle weight he would have one. He took GGG best punches and aside from the 1st round didn't look hurt. He was heading for a knockout but more accumulative damage.

One think that is true Khan should avoid brook like the plague.

It's pretty obvious to me, De La Hoya doesn't want to give up his cash cow imho.

What fight were you watching ??
GGG didn't land a single power-punch cleanly, if he had Brook would have been dropped!!

After that seeing GGG can be out boxed by someone like kell, do you think floyd would beat him?

I think so, won't be easy but floyd should be able to pot shot him all night.

Not at 160lbs. Golovkin will fold him up. Brook vs Mayweather would be interesting.

That was a good stoppage right, seems quite a few people are complaining

Yeah. First fight at 160, suspected broken face, cracked in the first round so the adrenaline keeps you up, a fighter thats brave as a lion and Golovkin going to work with minimal punches coming back. Yeah thats hazardous to health.

I can't think of any bigger fight in the world apart from maybe Brook vs Khan.

I agree but a loss for Canelo will hit him financially for the rest of his career. Two high profile losses and he's no longer as big a draw as he is now. He could carry on taking easier fights, getting paid maybe half of what he'd get vs GGG and then still take the GGG fight later.

For example.
Scenario 1: He can earn $10m per fight for the next 4 fights then take the GGG fight and earn $25m - total $65m.
Scenario 2: He can get $25-30m for the GGG fight now, lose and end up getting $5m for his next 4 fights after - total $45-50m.
Scenario 3: Take the GGG fight now and win, earn $25-30m and he'll still only get $10m per fight after - total $65-70m.

There's little to no benefit for him taking the fight now.

Maybe thats how his people see it, but fighting people like Smith and not holding titles/vacating seems a much bigger risk.

is it true that GGG is ducking Andre Ward?

I wouldn't say he ducked Ward, it's just his team weren't exactly in any rush to move GGG up to 168 to face Ward, that's all. Ward beats GGG and his team are realistic enough to know this, Ward will have a size advantage over GGG and he has the boxing skills and technical ability which is right up there with the likes of Mayweather. It has been GGG's intentions for a long time to wipe out the 160 weight division first, which is fair enough but Ward wanted him to step up to 168 which I think GGG may do at some point in his career but not just yet. Ward has since moved up in weight himself and faces another monster hitter in Kovalev, that should be a good one.

Brook fought well last night and maybe gave some hope to other big hitting natural middleweights out there in showing that GGG is there to be hit. The power in the end was not enough on Brooks part. Hope he makes a full recovery and moves down one division to 154, I think he's a force there. Brook vs Canelo would actually be a decent fight.
