Just been watching the announcement and subsequent interviews after. The $1bn is spread over 8 years and 16 shows per year, giving you an average of around $8m per show. Hearn said in an interview after that rather than spread the money evenly, he plans on putting on 12 regular shows and then 4 big shows per year, the equivalent of a PPV show but without it being PPV - he did concede though that even spreading the money that way, he won't be able to put on the very biggest PPV fights - he used Ward/Kovalev as an example of the size of PPV fight he'd be able to put on without PPV but then said they probably wouldn't be able to compete with HBO or Showtime for Joshua/Wilder because on PPV that will make far more money than he could offer. That said, other than a few select fights, are there any fighters based in the US that regularly do big numbers on PPV? Canelo's probably the only one now.
