**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

I've been debating the Mi Mix 2. In tems of the version I see their are chinese/English versions and a global rom and a global version and an international version. Can you get any of the versions and I assume flash the global rom, or is it better to get the global rom is everything then easier (is that the default rom so won't then need flashing and is that the same as the international verson) - is that the one to get?

I also see different views on the xiomini software, any views or tips with this.

Is gearbest the best place , any other vendors any good particularly for returns and also delivery times.

*critical for me is contact less payments with the phone so if any of the above loses that then for me that would be a definite no

I think Google pay will work if you install the app from play store.

Their were a couple of things putting me off this and the one plus 5t, I went into cpw and the pixel 2 XL deal proved too strong so ended up with one of those

Personally, lack of USB type-C is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

not long after i bought my Redmi Note 4 !!
(and the same price)

Redmi Note 4 users, I have put a screen lock on, and it asked me to set it so that im at home its always unlocked, but im still putting in my pin number.
I can not find this in the settings anywhere to check it/turn it off
where is it ?

Thanks

What do Xiaomi have against SD card slots? Surely they're more practical than two SIM cards slots for most users? This, the A1, and my Mi5 don't have an SD card slot.

Mi A1 has an SD card slot.

Does it? I'm just going off the likes of gearbest where it says:

SIM Card: dual SIM dual standby. Nano SIM + Nano SIM
which to me reads it has only has two sim card slots like my mi5. However if you read further down it does mention an SD card slot. It's all very confusing.

Ah thanks for confirming mate. To be honest after the mixed reviews, I wasn't that tempted by it anyway. Was hoping the Redmi 5 might have more features to tempt me into upgrading but we shall see.

No worries, I have has so many problems with mine dropping signal until the final Nougat update and it seemed fine. The first Oreo update was so bugged and wrecked my signal again, the second one fixed some bugs but not my signal, so I flashed back to Nougat again and it's been ok. Xiaomi have still not released the source code for the phone which is a stipulation that Google enforce but nothing has happened as yet. I think they are scared to as developers are just dying to rip it apart an make a rom that works, something they can't seem to do. How embarrassing is that.

Hmm I only just got the January patch on my mia1 so I'm hoping all the Bluetooth battery issues I had are resolved.

I'll have to factory reset it if I cba.

My screen is ghosting like crazy and signal is potentially as screwed as other posters...

Very confused but can you link me to the best 7 ROM I think if this isn't cleared up I'll stick on that.

I'm on the look out for a new phone and really like the look of the Redmi 5 Plus posted above. One question though - I use the Barclays banking app a lot and it doesn't work on rooted phones. A couple of years ago I bought a Umi Iron from china and the barclays app would not work at all .
Does any one have experience of these phones (Xiaomi Redmi) and whether the barclays app works on them?
