**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Barclays app worked fine on the standard Note 4 when I had a play and it works on the stock Mi A1 too (neither rooted). No idea if it would work on a custom ROM (if you're into that sort of thing) would affect anything.

I just don't see enough need for rooting anymore myself. Adblockers are a bit more of a pain but there are a couple that use a fake VPN (I use DNS66 and a free app to hide the permanent icon - though when the Mi A1 gets 8.1 that shouldn't be necessary).

Looking to upgrade from my Moto E 2nd gen LTE to something relatively cheap, any suggestions?

Well today my 13 year old dropped and obliterated her HTC A9 so she needs a new phone AGAIN!

Coincidence or not she's also currently using the backup phone which is a Moto E 2nd Gen :D But we do need to get her something better to use so she can get back to her Snapchat and Facebook addiction along with her friends ;)

Although personally I am tempted with the Mi A1 I really don't know what to do :D

The Redmi Note 4 or Redmi 5 Plus do seem to be the contenders for the money right now.

Haha! it's a good little phone but starting to slow up a lot now and it also doesn't have the latest Android :(

I prefer smaller phones <5"

I'll take a look at the Redmi :) thanks

They rushed out Oreo with loads of bugs and then pulled the upgrade. Then they supposedly fixed said bugs and rolled it out again lol. Fix my signal problem you numptys. The sooner they release the source code and get some custom roms going the better.

looking to buy a Chinese phone after i broke my galaxy note 4 , i don't want to go any smaller than 5.7" screen size ,not really fussed on having a fast phone with loads of storage as i only really use it for browsing the net when i'm at work.
also which of the the Chinese web stores am i less likely to get stung for import duty.

Don't buy a Mi A1, the rom is crap, the support is crap and everything else. Have a look at the link I posted for the redmi note 4.

What do you expect it is a Chinese phone not sold in this market. Also as with all new OS you are bound to have issues initially. Phone software companies should give you an option to upgrade or not. As for my mia1 I have had no issues at all on o2.
