**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Tell us more :p

Just had a good look at the reviews and it ticks more boxes than the OP6, especially having wireless charging and itsi cheaper.

I upgraded from a ZUK Z2 Pro, and the only thing I miss is AMOLED.

QI charging, fingerprint reader, NFC and the screen coverage are brill, and I even like MIUI.

I took some pics on my way home with both phones to compare, same aperture, no HDR/AI/etc settings, just standard photo.

The 2S clearly goes to town with dynamic range even with HDR disabled (where the ZUK struggles with dynamic range), but the clarity is also much better than the ZUK.

For reference:

ZUK: 13 MP (f/1.8, 1.34µm), OIS
2S: 12 MP (f/1.8, 21mm, 1/2.55", 1.4µm, 4-axis OIS) + 12 MP (f/2.4, 26mm, 1/2.9", 1.0µm)

That was a good price! Got mine for around £84 all in, which for what you get I still think is amazing value.

You got a link for that bloatware removal?

I'm finding battery life to be pretty good, standby time especially.

I followed user Bleep's guide in this thread on the Umidigi forum.

1. First you need to flash the fresh 1.8 ROM via QGDP or SFPT
2. Flash TWRP directly after you finish step 1, no need to start the phone yet
3. Enter TWRP by pressing vol up and power button, tick the only option in Russian before you start.
4. Change the language of TWRP to English by selecting the 3rd options on the right side and pick the globe icon.
5. Now go back to the main menu, pick MOUNT, tick the System.
6. Connect the phone to PC, copy the launcher apk to your phone storage and rename it to QK_LauncherAbroad.apk
7. Go back to TWRP main menu, pick ADVANCED, in the menu pick FILE MANAGER
8. Go to your /external_sd, click the launcher file, move/copy it to /system/priv-app/QK_LauncherAbroad, overwrite it.
9. Tweak
- Now from file manager go to /system/app and delete these folders:
Umi_v8_28Aug
BY_3RD_360MobileSecurity
BY_3RD_Dcshare
BY_3RD_quicktouch
BY_3RD_TouchpalKeyboard
QK_3RD_GaoDe_NetworkLocation
QK_BlackMagic
QK_LogSystemAbroad_wm
QK_PersonalAssistScreenAbroad
QK_PowerMaster360Intl_V3

-Go to /system/priv-app and delete these folders:
BY_3RD_AvatarMasterAbroad
QK_Antitheft
QK_AppSecurity
QK_Cleaner
QK_CloudSyncAbroad
QK_SafetySpace
QK_TransferAbroad

-Go to /system/presetapp and delete all the apk inside, you can put any apk like chrome, whatsapp, etc inside this folder so it will be preinstalled every time you do a factory reset.
-To remove that ugly browser just go to /system/vendor/app and delete MtkBrowser

10. Restart your system and enjoy a nearly stock OS feel almost without any UMIDIGI craps.
(Optional re-flash stock recovery if you want Factory data reset work)

Takes a few minutes, but well worth it. I use the Google Now launcher, but you could just as easily use Nova Launcher, or Bleep's suggestion of Pixel Launcher, or whatever.

Thanks for that.

Can't wait to get rid of the bloatware.

I have Nova Launcher but can't use it until I get rid of the rubbish.

How easy is it to send stuff back to Geekbuying Germany? I've just bought a cheap laptop but if it doesn't have an IPS display I don't want it (some people are saying it's a tft panel). I bought with Paypal so can I used PP's free return service?

Hi,
Did you get that from Amazon or Aliexpress , Are you able to provide details please

Thanks

End up going for a Huawei P20 Lite.

Appreciate the Redmi 5 is cheaper, the Huawei comes with USB-C fast charging which is a big thing for me, I love the little notch at the top around the screen also, makes good use of the space.

Amazon, came the next day. Also Amazon themselves sold it (rather than a trader) which gives me comfort as I did the same with my nexus 5x and they gave me a refund when it became faulty after 22 months.

HK Goldway on AliExpress, they got Global stock on the 6th, and mine arrived today, 64GB for £440 no customs or VAT. Even cheaper now.

Great info. I've read on the forum you can't get Android pay to work as the phone is not secure. Have you use android pay?
There is a 30+ day delivery date from "HK Goldway" did you have the same time frame?

Is the Redmi Note 5 with Snapdragon 636 (Xiaomi really need to clean up their product names) the best sub-£200 phone now?

Worth waiting a bit longer for the Mi A2? Downsides with that if it’s the same as the Mi 6X is the humungous camera bump, lack of microSD and headphone jack, and smaller battery.

Well, I've never used it, but just set it up fine with a card, will give it a go the next time I am out.

It took 6 days from them posting to get here, though I ordered before the global version was released.

Is that when I go to the check out? never bought from here....
Put it where is says "leave message for seller"?
Yep

And I can confirm Google pay works fine, I think it was the Chinese versions that didn't work, global are fine

just seen the review of the honor 10 https://youtu.be/FGIUl9i_Oyo. Would this be a better choice then the p20 lite

This thread just cost me £400 :)

Been reading and debating between various models over the past few weeks and days and was all set to spend £350 on the Nokia 7 Plus, but this phone seems much better value and specs. It's not vanilla Android that I would prefer but I'm prepared to live with those shortcomings.
