I was very tempted by the Mi Note 10 in green for £319.00, but I will keep my powder dry for the Mi 10 Lite with 5G which should be on sale next month for approx £350 ish.
 
Just took a punt on the Redmi Note 8 Pro for £149 and took up the offer of a mi band 4 for £10.

Can't really go far wrong for that price... hopefully!

Are Xiaomi well known for delivering a clean, near-stock experience?

Samsung are definitely guilty of throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks, but they've been doing it so long that the best features have survived and are often useful and mature.
 
Yeah they are having a sale right now, tomorrow will have Mi Mix 3 5g for sale at £239 but only 400 units so will probably sell out quick.
 
Apologies for double post but decided to bite the bullet and get the Note 8 Pro myself and just sorted the return on my 8T. Was wanting blue but OOS so black it is. Should be more than adequate for what I use a phone for. Gone back to my Mi 5 for now and will take awhile to get used to a small screen again.

Not really on the Chinese version.
But you can use ADB to delete the crap.
 
Odd issue with my xiaomi redmi note 8 pro.

The finger print scanner no longer unlocks my phone. It works on apps such as banking though, so it works. Any ideas?

I saw a review of the Redmi Note 9S where the reviewer said something similar. Looks like it is bug.
