**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

I got my Poco F2 today. Had a quick play around. Seems pretty decent. Got a notification to upgrade to MIUI 12. I also thought I'd hate MIUI but it's not too bad.

Just ordered a poco f2 pro for £284 with a nillkin case.

I should be able to get £200 for my current phone or at worst £150 so it's a cheap upgrade in terms of everything apart from screen res.

I really dislike the bezels on my current phone and the fact is that it's 2 years old so only a matter of time before battery degradation starts to kick in and drop off. Rather sell it whilst it's worth good money.

Well my upgrade is forced due to trash battery on my phone, but I can still get a decent amount for it so cost of switching would be minimal.

Definitely a lot of phone for the money here but at the same time if I upgrade I wanted to get a high refresh screen and telephoto lens, plus Pixel 5 might actually shape up to be a decent phone and comes out in a few months so still undecided!

From china

Using US Dollars and a fee free card.

Think it was £279 without the case and £284 with the case.

Delivery can be hit and miss I've had stuff take 1-2 weeks and other take 1-2 months. Will see what happens.

As raw specs go - the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra looks like a monster!

I bought a MI 10 Pro Global last month from Amazon ES but I didn't get on with MIUI 11 and with no sign of MIUI 12 for the global version I decided to return it (which cost a small fortune).

I've only just got the funds back and went and ordered the Ultra. Initially the Silver version had me but in the end the mirror finish looked a bit too much so went with the transparent 8/256 model instead.

Not bothered about the 125W charging etc , it's the Ultrawide that's got me intrigued. Find out in a few weeks if it's any good.

I must admit that I'm really liking MIUI 12. Honestly though I'd hate it. It's not some pretty neat features. Plus you can delete quite a lot of the bloatware apps as well.

I normally use nova launcher. Did you have to do anything special to delete the bloatware apps or can you just go into the settings and then apps and delete from there?

I use Nova Launcher as well. I just went through my app drawer and long pressed on any apps that I didn't want and if I had the option to uninstall them I did. There are only around 10 apps now that I don't want but I can't be bothered with the hassle of deleting them by having to use my laptop.

It is but reports say there'll be no Global version. The K30 Ultra looks tasty too.

Yeah, I read that too. I wonder what their reasoning is behind that. Granted the original Mi Mix, another special release iirc, never went overseas either but that was released well before Xiaomi had Western distributors in place.

You can hide them in Nova

Where did you order from? Cost?
Am thinking of ordering one but I've never bought from a Chinese store before.
Someone advised me to buy from Taobao. And I've seen a post on reddit about using an agent service called WeGoBuy
https://www.reddit.com/r/duckyfx/co...from/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

What do you think?

Giztop, worked out at £800 delivered. Not the cheapest but I've used them few times before and found them reliable.

I'll give WeGoBuy a look, seems interesting.

#Acutally it's very similar to Buyee on Yahoo Japan auctions, and whilst I've never used that service before either ( as I just dealt direct with sellers via my own account ) It does seems another alternative, and maybe cheaper. I'm going to see how much I can save over Giztop, maybe cancel and re-order if it's quite significant. Cheers.

#Did a little price comparison and after you factor in Wegobuy's handling fees, domestic and international postage you're not saving that much, and I imagine with all the extra steps involved it would take longer to arrive.

So for the more generic items, more widely available I should say, I'd prefer to pay a little extra and deal direct with an e-tailor rather than a broker. For the rarer items or hard to get hold off then Wegobuy maybe be better.

I like the look of the k30 ultra as well. It's annoying that it will only be released in China. We will probably be able to import this at some point but it won't have a global rom. Last time I had a xioami (redmi note 3) it was a good phone but some apps like banking apps wouldn't work when I changed it from the vendors flashed rom to the China rom it should have come with. That had a mediatek chip and performed well. Its weakness over the snapdragon (Pro) version was that it could run quite hot and used more battery as it had a much higher nm. I think the latest dimensity chips have overcome this issue as they are 7nm not 7nm+ but still. They are meant to be good on battery life and cheaper than snapdragon which is why I want one.
