**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Mi 10 ultra is being released shortly. Reviews seem positive so far and has some great specs at a reasonable price so it seems?
What do they consider a reasonable price? The Mi 10 Pro was around £900 at launch. That's a lot in my book. I'm definitely not going to pay that for a phone out right. My current phone was a £900 phone (mate 20 Pro) in 2018 but on my contract with cashback its £26.50 a month with 80gb of data. Just hoping if we do get black Friday this year I can find something more like this again at upgrade time. Otherwise the poco f2 pro is looking odds on with a sim only.

@mdaw well its £743 for a global rom version online.

But when I say reasonable, I guess I meant by today's standards! I got a similar deal on black Friday in 2018 and can't imagine I'll get anything close again.

Will have to wait uk pricing but surely won't cost the 1200 of the samsung ultra?

There isn't a global mi10 ultra

The Mi 10 is £800 officially, in line with an s20, the Pro unsurprisingly will not be cheaper and of course the ultra will be more than that for global with appropriate bands for UK and warranty.

Most import phones don't support LTE band 20 widely used for best 4g coverage in UK

Xiaomi have said they have no plans to sell the Ultra in Europe, although that might change. Mind you the Mi 10 Pro doesn't even have a UK release so I can't imagine the Ultra arriving anytime soon.
The lack of B20 isn't ideal although it's only an issue if you rely heavily on data streaming etc, aside from that it should be fine.

I'll post some pics/impressions when mine turns up.

Yeah, I read that too. I wonder what their reasoning is behind that. Granted the original Mi Mix, another special release iirc, never went overseas either but that was released well before Xiaomi had Western distributors in place.

I like the look of the k30 ultra as well. It's annoying that it will only be released in China. We will probably be able to import this at some point but it won't have a global rom. Last time I had a xioami (redmi note 3) it was a good phone but some apps like banking apps wouldn't work when I changed it from the vendors flashed rom to the China rom it should have come with. That had a mediatek chip and performed well. Its weakness over the snapdragon (Pro) version was that it could run quite hot and used more battery as it had a much higher nm. I think the latest dimensity chips have overcome this issue as they are 7nm not 7nm+ but still. They are meant to be good on battery life and cheaper than snapdragon which is why I want one.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I suspect these phones will find their way to Europe in one guise or another. Hopefully, with further refinements.

The pro is on Xiaomis uk site so its coming, just no price yet.

Cheers for the link .

Yeah suppose, nothing worse that forced adverts/bloat in my opinion.

Strange strategy from Xiaomi UK, It would be interesting to know why it was never released. Doesn't bode well for the Ultra, not at a competitve price anyway.

So for the more generic items, more widely available I should say, I'd prefer to pay a little extra and deal direct with an e-tailor rather than a broker. For the rarer items or hard to get hold off then Wegobuy maybe be better.

I would agree with you on that. I'm thinking of placing a Giztop order also. Do you know if either shipping option affects the chance of being hit by import duties? (I know some import services tell you that some shipping service have more chance of that)
Not sure if Giztop does any discount codes. Or referral scheme - if so pass over your referral details and will use that if I go ahead.

I don't know whether it's because I've fiddled with my phone.....run a different launcher, uninstalled various Xiaomi apps etc....but there's a few bugs in my note 9s.
The raise to wake function stops working randomly and only a reboot fixes it and my browser,Opera, freezes quite often as does Gboard

Dispatch via DHL , so there is a chance of duties and in my experience the call you now for payment before delivery. You can opt for non-DHL,takes 10-15 days but is less likely to encur chargers.

Wondamobile will take care of your import fees but no sign of them offering it yet. However, Giztop need to get the devices from Shenzhen first, then process and ship them, so it could be a while before I get mine. Might pay off waiting a week or so and see if you can get it from Wondamobile.

Giztop, 2% off signing up for the newsletter. Pays for delivery :)

Think if I was importing to get the most powerful I'd get the sd865 s20 Ultra from there at least it has all uk bands and no ads and 12Gb.

Not about getting the most powerful device for me, It's usually about a feature or combination of and it's the wide-angles lens that's got me interested this time. Besides, I've had the S20 Ultra and wasn't that impressed.
